Question about LG LSC26905TT Side by Side Refrigerator
Http://www.searspartsdirect.com/ replace the ice maker would be the simplest. If you're a good DIY'er, shut off the water to the icemaker, remove the maker and try your skills at troubleshooting the unit. The timer on the icemaker is suspect as it controls the water valve. The wire bail you mention only tells the ice maker that the tray is full and to stop making ice by stopping the timer until you push the bail back down. My guess is that the timer motor failed and stopped just as the water was turned on, BAD TIMER!

We have the same problem with the ice cube tray. Repairman said the tray must be replaced every year as continual bending warps it out of shape. Replace every year and your problem is solved.

Colenoid in the ice dispenser may be clogged or have a small amount of trash in it. Is there a filter on before the fridge (just after the ice maker shutoff)?

SOURCE: LG Ice maker
I got the same problem where the plate is cold and the water does not fill - saw this comment from other posting and help. Basically, the ice maker was stalled! Make sure you can see the green light is on, which means you have power. if its lit, press and hold the cube size button until i/m starts to cycle. If i/m runs, but does not fill then your water valve is bad. If i/m will not start then your i/m is at fault.

I was able to order the ice tray myself and install it in the fridge - it's not hard. I ordered from one of the parts sellers linked to at the LG website, not those listed in other posts here.
Here's how to replace the tray:
You need to remove the tray dumping mechanism to do this.

The water line is freezing in the door due to deteriorated insulation. The only fix I have found to work on my fridge was to defrost the inside door with a blow dryer. Then place a weedeater replacement line (the orange 10" or so size you find at Lowes' or Home Depot) up through the dispenser nozzle, If the line only travels about 3-4 inches up the nozzle, then ice is still in the tube. Blow dry it until you are able to get water to dispense. After the tube is ice-free, place the weedeater line up throuth the dispenser nozzle leaving about 1/8" sticking out. The dispenser will still work with the line stuck in it. The dispenser will probably freeze again in about 8 hours, But all you need to do each time this happens is to pull the weedeater line out, dispense the water to unclog the ice, and place the weedeater line back in the nozzle. I have been using this method for about a week now and it works great. My GE Side-by-side is also 4 years old and this seems to be a problem with all of them. There is a part you can order to fix the problem, but I have heard it may not work.
