It means that either your hardrive has failed, or you have had a virus that has wiped out the bootable partition. When you first start the laptop, watch the screen for instructions on how to get into bios. usually "esc" or "F10" or "F1". Once in the bios check for installed disks. If the harddrive does not show then it is probably bad.

Gateway sx2110 windows 8 formated drive c. now it will not take cds or usb to reinstal. says no boot cds or bad disk. keeps revolving to checking pc and fixing

You might need to go in to BIOS setup and change the boot order to boot from CD/DVD before the hard disk. Same thing for booting from USB. If the boot order is set to the hard disk first and it does not find a bootable partition then that's the error you would get and it might not get past that. I think F2 will let you access that on a Gateway. This is a link to to the Gateway recovery page and it has lots of good info on it.

My gateway computer wont reset to factory and says no bootable hard drive how do i fix it

I think you have a failed HD or the operating system is corrupted, You likely need a recovery disk to be sure, call them and ask to buy one.

What does flashing globe on white screen on mac meanmacbook pro

If by flashing globe you mean spinning globe (often a colored beach ball), there are several possible reasons. The spinning beach ball happens when a operating system command cannot be completed. The computer is frozen/stuck in a process that it can't complete.
Most often the cause is faulty or missing information on the hard drive. Running Disk Utility will often fix it. You may need to start the computer from your OS install disk and rather than install find Disk Utility in the pull down menu and run it on your hard drive.
The spinning ball could also be caused by insufficient RAM memory to even run the operating system. It could also be caused by hardware problems which can be diagnosed with the Apple Hardware Test found on the disks sold with the machine.
If you truly mean a flashing round globe, I have never seen such a figure. Flashing question marks or flashing circle with a slash through it means the mac cannot find a bootable hard drive. Your hard drive may have died or become corrupted. To see if you hard drive is defective, again run Disk Utility by booting off an install CD or another hard drive with a compatible MacOSX operating system to diagnose.
Try running the repair disk program under the general tab of the Disk Utility program.

Gateway GT5404 when cut on it says No bootable agentPXE base code(RXE-2.1 build 0.95) what does this mean? Can I fix the problem?

It is saying it can not find a hard drive with a bootable partition to boot up with. it may have lost the boot sector (which can be repaired) or you may have to reformat and reinstall the operating system.

If Windows, run the installation CD and select the option to repair. It may be able to help.

Gateway nv7915u error message i'm getting is pxe-e61 media test failure check cable pxe-m0f exiting broadcom pxe rom no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key but when i do that nothing...

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an USB mass storage device and you cannot open the various folders and fileson this drive, then this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Gateway gt5404 reads no bootable device pc seemed to siow down some then went black was after micro. soft update ? unpluged twice pulled batt. reconected it worked set clock back worked awhile went black...

Any hard disk that makes clicking or metallic noises is faulty, especially when POST error message no bootable devices detected.
To confirm go into the BIOS setting and see if the hard drive is detected, if it cannot detect the hard drive then it is definitely faulty.
Replace the hard drive and install Windows on the new hard drive to get the computer working again.

Media test failure, No bootable device, insert boot disk.

Media test failure, no bootable device error message means the hard disk has failed, therefore cannot boot up.
If reseating the hard drive doesn't fix your problem then replace the faulty drive and install Windows on the new drive to get the computer operational again.
