SOURCE: electric fireplace does not heat

I have a cheap electric fireplace bought in SuperCentre store-heater no longer works. It says its a one piece system. Can these heaters be replaced or repaired(probably made in China) or am i better off scrapping it and buying a new one?

SOURCE: Charmglow electric fireplace flame does not

You will have to connect a 12v dc power supply to the flame motor. The controller on the board has fried. I built a regulated 12 v dc power supply and tapped it into the bulb circuit so it will power the motor when the bulbs come on. You may have to find an electrician or techie to rig this up safely.Good luck!

SOURCE: Charmglow Electric Fireplace ***NO HEAT** just lights up, HELP :(

Take the fan power switch apart and clean the 2 point contacts. Also clean the 4 male studs that the wires plug into. That should solve the problem.

SOURCE: Flame does not flicke in

if flame not flickering and you can see the globes lighting flame its the fan that moves the ribbons is faulty unless it has fuse to it which may have blown, but how the flame works is by globes lighting through ribbons that are moved by a fan to give a flicker effect unless its rotating glass wheel like some, that turn with the globes behind that give you a flickering effect its always better with electrical to have an electrician look if it was the globes yes that is an easy replace but to change a fan or rotating glass wheels

My electric fireplace has not been working correctly. Sometimes the flame works perfectly and then goes out and won't go back on.

You have a great question and the answer was correct you just did not have the correct fireplace for the answer. You should post the make and model. It sounds like the motor is failing but again I do not know what you have.

GAS FIREPLACE SOMETIMES TURNS ON AND SOMETIMES NOT. ALSO, IT CAN BE ON AND THEN THE FLAME GOES OUT BUT A FEW MINUTES LATER COMES ON. SUGGESTIONS?

This is a typical situation for a warn Powerpile generator. Your fireplace works by this generator generating heat from your pilot flame and converting it to less than 3/4 of a volt or 750mv. Your gas valve will eat up half of this electricity when running. So when you Powerpile gets warn it might only generate 400mv and when the gas valve turns on will bring it down below 200mv. This will start to drop once the main burner turns on and once below 150mv is no longer able to power the gas valve resulting in the main flame to go out. Minutes later the generator will build its power up again and repeat the cycle. The generator looks a little thicker than a crayon and has a red and white wire coming off it. They are easy to change but the tight spaces on a fireplace can make it very difficult.

My gas fireplace's pilot light is on-but when I turn on the electric switch the fireplace will not light all the time. Sometimes it may take 2-3 minutes before it lights up but then goes out after 30...

I had this exact problem.

Open the glass front. Take a piece of fine steel wool and clean the little metal ends where the flames ignite. Sometimes they just get gummed up. It prevents enough flow from getting through to maintain a flame.

Gas fireplace pilot flame won't stay lit.

Hi , you can try and pull the panel on the bottom of fireplace out and check the adapter in fireplace. Sometimes they go bad. When you open in also check to see if there is an adapter plugged in and a option to use the battery operated function. If this goes bad the pilot will not stay lit.

Flame doesn't flicker

The "flicker" function in my unit operates with a system of rotating, reflective fins. The tiny, AC synchronous motor driving the fins failed and I got one one-line for cheap. A fairly simple R&R.

Only downside is the motor does not always start in the proper direction, but a start/stop or two resolves the issue.
