SOURCE: Freezer area smells and ice cubes and butter taste off?

It sounds like the ice maker if equiped. Remove Ice bin and clean out,and try a lite spray of bleach or vinegar (don't mix) If the smell is still happening and comming from ice you may want to install a inline filter.

Can you freeze ricotta cheese?

Yes you can freeze ricotta cheese! In order to do so, tightly seal the original container and put it in a freezer bag in order to avoid freezer burn. Your ricotta cheese will last approximately three months if stored in the freezer as instructed above. The link below will provide you with more information.

Making the perfect grilled cheese sandwich on an electric griddle

Most people when they make grilled cheese sandwiches try to stamp out as many as they possibly can as quickly as they possibly can. When you make grilled cheese this way you end up sacrificing a great tasting sandwich for just an okay sandwich. With just a little bit of patients and self control you can make a great grilled cheese sandwich that will keep your kids coming back for more.

It all starts with having the right equipment and ingredients to make the perfect sandwich. You can use a saute pan on a medium low heat but I prefer and recommend that you use an electric griddle set to about 275 degrees. To make the sandwich you need bread (we use sliced white bread), butter (at room temperature so you can spread it) and either cheddar cheese or sliced American cheese.

Before you start to make your sandwiches you have to set up the griddle and set the heat. The key is to have it ready so the sandwich starts to cook right when it hits the griddle.

To build your sandwich take two slices of white bread and the butter, lather up one side of each of the slices of bread with a generous amount of butter. You want to let the butter sit a bit so that it comes down to room temperature, this will make it easier to spread on the bread.

Lay the slice of bread with the butter side down and cover the whole slice with a single layer of cheese. Close it up and you're ready to start grilling.

Carefully place your sandwich on the grilling surface and let it sit for 5 minutes on each side. Don't put it down and walk away because you need to make sure that it doesn't burn. After five minutes flip the sandwich over and let the second side cook for another five minutes. You will know that it is done when both sides of the sandwich is golden brown. It may take longer than 5 minutes on each side so don't panic if after 10 minutes its not done.

When its finished you can put them on a plate and serve them up hot. In my house we like to open them up and put a tomato slice with salt in it. You can have it plain or with tomato soup, cut in half or whole, how ever you enjoy it.
Bon appetit!

What kinds of condiment dispensers are there?

There is the most common one, with the pump, where you push down the pump and the condiment comes out.
Then there are the chilled dispensers, where the condiments are set in little containers that can be put in a refrigerated structure. These are very common in fast foods, frozen yogurt stores or ice cream stores.
There are the classic and simple plastic trays with compartments, for picnics.
And then there are the fast food classics: the squeeze plastic bottle ones.

What kind of food should you put in a picnic basket?

You can take whatever foods you like but I would stick to about 4 dishes maximum or you will spend all your time opening up pots of food and clearing up. Here are my main staples that I always take on a picnic;

1. Bread (chunks of French bread or big loaves that you can tear from are very good)

2. Cheese (or take sliced cheeses or pieces of cheese and a sharp knife)

3. Fruit (this is a great option for summer picnics and goes really well with the cheese)

4. Wine (no picnic would be complete without a bottle of chilled wine).

What is the best temperature to keep the refrigerator ( Hotpoint)

http://www.hotpointservice.co.uk/hs/pages/content.do?keys=FAQ:SIY_RFFRIDGETEMP
What should a Hotpoint fridge temperature be?

Your Hotpoint fridge is designed to operate at a temperature ranging from 0.5 degrees in the coldest part up to 5 degrees inthe warmest part.

As warm air rises and cold air falls it is safe to say that the best way to store your food is to place it in the most appropriate shelf compartment, as shown in the diagram below.

Coils keep freezing up its 4 years old

Iced-over evaporator coils, accompanied by a non-chilled fresh food compartment, happened in my GE side-by-side (model GSS20IEMDWW). For me, the problem was caused by a faulty temp sensor in the fresh food side. That sensor never signalled the computer that the temp in the fresh food side was cool enough, so the compressor ran constantly.

Since the compressor was running constantly, the evaporator coils (back wall of the freezer compartment) eventually iced over (took about a week). Since the fan that draws air over the evaporator coils could no longer move any air (due to the icing), the temperature in the fresh food side got warmer as well.

The fresh food side is chilled through a hole with a motorized door at the top of the dividing wall between compartments which opens when the fresh food side needs cooling. If no air is moving in the freezer compartment, temps in the fresh food compartment climb.

I replaced the temp sensor in the fresh food side and solved the problem for a while.

I bough a pair of thermometers at a kitchen store and put one in the freezer compartment and one in the fresh food compartment so that I could occasionally check to see if it made sense for the compressor to be running (ie, was it really necessary to be trying to cool either compartment, or were they already cold enough).

About six months later I had the coil icing problem again. This time the fresh food side seemed cool enough (according to the thermometer as well as the fact that the flapper door would close, indicating that the computer knew to not try to additionally cool the fresh food side).

The thermometer indicated that the temp in the freezer compartment was cold enough, but the system computer continued to run the compressor. So I replaced both temp sensors in the freezer compartment - which solved the problem again. (My fridge is about seven years old.)

If you are going to replace any of the temp sensors, replace them all under the principle of "if one failed, the rest will soon fail too".

Use a website like www.partselect.com to look up a parts diagram for your fridge and see if you can order just the temp sensors. Other websites (www.repairclinic.com and www.appliancepartsworldwide.com) may also be helpful. I have no affiliation with any of the sites I just mentioned - I'm just posting them as resources.
