Question about Pentax Optio Wg-1 Series 14MP Waterproof Adventure
Kakima, thanks for the response. Pentax Optio WG-1 Total time does increase when resolution is reduced. Still the same total time with 4GB or 16GB.The manual states that the camera will record in blocks of 2GB. If recording stops at 2GB start again to continue recording the rest of the movie in blocks of 2GB. If true..total time will be greatly increased per # of GBs. Confusing Why did they do that? Is a video clip, one continual movie with out stopping? Thanks again Don
Not long ago camera's, computer's etc could not imagine a file or a memory device larger that 2Gigs. Making files in 2 gig sections was the workaround. If this is a newer model, this should not be a problem.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I also had this problem. I think it is caused when the camera is turned off while in the viewing part of the camera. That is, I had gone to look at the video that I had just taken, but didn't and then turned the camera off. The camera is then as you have described it.
The only way I could get it back to normal is to connect the camera to the computer, using the cable, and download the photos and videos. When the download is complete, disconnect the camera and it should be OK.
Good luck, cheers. Phil

SOURCE: Problem with memory card
Quoting from page 107 of my copy of the manual:
"Recording can continue until the built-in memory/SD memory card is full, or the size of the recorded movie reaches 4GB."
From that, it's apparent that a 16GB card won't let you record longer videos than the 4GB card. It will let you record four such videos, however.

It will take a 2 GB card, I am using one now.
I can't tell you about a 4GB card, but that's a LOT of storage, so you probably don't really need a 4GB card anyhow???

I am having the same problem. On the pentax site it does not list disc s-sw39. Apparently it only applies to later models. oh well....
