My hp pavilion dv6 1053cl is showing on start up screen a message 'serial not found' ,, how to fix it ???

This usually happens when you upgrade HP Support Assistant, the upgrade changes the product model, serial and product number and enters the information into the BIOS. When the system restarts you get the "Serial number not found" message usually in the top left hand corner.

As far as I know there is no down-loadable "fix" for this but HP are aware and are working on a solution for the problem which you can download and apply. However, this, i heard was for Win 7. I'm not sure about Vista or XP, you'll have to check with HP.

The most common action people have had to take was to send the laptop to HP and they would reprogram the BIOS chip with the correct information. I don't know if they were charged for this though although common sense would dictate that HP should take responsibility because the update was from them in the first place.
Other people have also said they would download the correct BIOS version from the BIOS manufacturers website and flash the BIOS themselves. Not one of these people have reported their results so i'm taking that as bad because if a BIOS flash goes wrong it could render the laptop useless making it an expensive door stop.

I would suggest that you let HP deal with this problem or at least contact them and ask them what they intend to do about this problem and when will a fix be released. I would also ask them if they would repair the error for free if you are not satisfied with what they tell you.

Good luck with HP, I hope they work it out for you.

My HP 4710s had a weird message that pops up after the logo screen. Then it says non disk or disk error strike any key to continue...I do that and the same message pops up...plz help.

the HP cannot boot up because it cannot find the hard disk to boot up from.
You could have a faulty hard drive or the hard drive needs re-seating.
If the HP still does not boot up after re-seating the hard drive go into the BIOS setting and see if the hard disk is detected. If not the most likely the hard disk is faulty.
To get the laptop working again. replace the hard disk, install Windows on the new hard disk plus the HP Laptop's device drivers and your programs.

Non-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready

You need to correct this problem in the BIOS. Sounds like the BIOS is not enabling this device you are trying to use. Reboot computer, press enter, or F1,F2 repeatedly to get there.

How can i resolve a bios checksum problem with my hp pavillion dv 2000 laptop

A BIOS checksum error is usually related to a near flat BIOS battery.
Replace the BIOS battery then boot up the laptop and go into the BIOS configuration and set the Date and Time settings etc. and the checksum error will disappear.

HP Webcam - BIOS ????

This problem occurs in some specific computer models because of a conflict between SP1 and the system BIOS. The best way to correct this problem is to download and install the correct BIOS for your computer.
