open cover, remove image transfer unit, behind ITU is 2nd image transfer roller, move it with hand, check solenoid and sensors, thaht they moving freely.

I've just had the same problem and I ended up totally dismantling the printer to get to the clutch that operates the 2nd image transfer roller. (Big Job!) I found that the clutch was sticking and I used some fine wet and dry sandpaper to smooth the surfaces so that the two surfaces would slide easily. I also made a small shim out of teflon to put a little pressure on the assembly. Reassembled and voila! It works well now. Big job though, you would need lots of patience and time.
