Turn off power remove two screw remove that hold the element in place place clothes pins on the wires behind the terminals so they do not pull back through the oven liner, remove the wires from the element and install on the new element. remove clothes pins and install the unit back into position and install screws.
As you can see on the electrical diagram grill heating element (RG) work alone or in seria with inner lower heating element (RI) and based on the your statement, I conclude that does not work lower heater (RD). So, you should check resistance of lower heater (RD), contacts of change over switch (P7-7 and P6-6) and wiring. By the way, both heater (RI + RD) is integrated into a single heating element.
pull it out unplug it,if the wires are to short yes remove the back panel,much easier to replace it this way,then remove the two screws that hold the element in place,i've seen people try to change these elements and don't kill the power first and pop they take out the clock assy. too.240 volts there.
