It.s not so much the baking it's the length of time it takes. Your recipie may need modifying. Try a different recipe or use the dough setting and make your own bread that way.

When I bake a loaf of bread it comes out of the machine with the ceramic mixing paddle baked into the loaf! How do I keep this from happening?

That often happens with bread machines. You can lessen the possibility by using milk in place of water and also choose light crust. This is pretty advanced but if it really bugs you,,, here goes.... After the final punch down and at the very beginning of the final "rise" stage you can remove the dough ball with one hand,( lightly flour your hands first) try to remove the paddle with the other hand from the dough ball and return the dough ball to the center of the pan, and close the lid Just be sure you don't remove your dough ball too early... check your owner manual and be sure you don't remove it BEFORE THE FINAL PUNCH DOWN....!

Bread sticks to the pan and the dough blade what am I doing wrong

It is not uncommon for the paddle to get stuck in the bread loaf especially with thick crust breads (i.e. french) Be sure to choose light crust and sometime using milk instead of water help too.

Kneading paddle gets stuck in loaf after baking and is hard to remove

Hi, it is common for this to happen with bread machines. It often helps if you have a modern machine and you can choose the crust color and you choose Light Crust. The other thing you can do is if you are using recipes that use water in the liquid phase use milk instead. If you paddle still sticks then you just need to turn the loaf on its side and use a popsicle stick, tooth pick etc and trace around the loaf where the paddle is and dig it out.

My panasonic SD 255 breadmaker, after quite a lot of use, is now baking bread with a harder crust than it did in its youth. We can get a softer crust by using the Sandwich loaf setting but then we can...

You never said if you remembered to select the LIGHT Crust setting each time. Did you? Are you? If you ARE using the LIGHT Crust setting and finished loaves are still too dark, I would have to say it's time for a replacement breadmaker. Nothing lasts forever my friend. Besides, it sounds like you got your money's worth anyway, right?

I've owned over 200 breadmaker myself so you can bet that what I'm saying is true. Sorry for the bad news friend.

Hope this helps!

I set the menu for whole wheat bread, however, recipe states whole wheat bread rapid. I've tried to unplug (before it has done anything) and reset, but it will not let me. It just goes back to the prior...

push the stop button until your machine beeps, then unplug it and plug it back in. push select and push it again and again and you will get more confident as you see it go through the choices such as basic, whole wheat, french etc...... you will get more confident about how to choose. Once you feel you have the right program leave it there and then choose things such as the crust color you want and the LOAF SIZE once you feel you have the right settings say....whole wheat, light crust, 1.5 pound loaf.......then....push start and the fun will begin....

The bread is too dry

Welcome to FixYa, if you appreciate our solution, please rate our services.

Breadmakers usually don't have as many crust settings as this one does. Darker crust settings usually equate to dryer bread because the bread bakes longer. The longer the bread bakes, the more moisture is removed. Accordingly, if you've tried this many recipes with dry texture, try progressively lighter crust settings until you get the moisture you desire. As for me, I rarely bake my bread in the machine (I don't like the hole in the bottom of the loaf). I do, however, appreciate the dough setting which does all the hard work, and I just bake it in the pan. I think the results are better and I get a better shaped loaf.

If this information has been helpful, don't forget to give me an appropriate rating. Thanks again and good baking!

Hard crust

Do you take it out right away?  If you let it rest in the machine for about an hour the crust stays soft as the bread sucks back in the moisture it gave off during baking.  Doing this does not make the bread soggy.  It's just physics.  If you take the bread out immediately the heat (+moisture) will be drawn out and diffused into the cooler environment.  Hope this helps.

1st time w/ Cuisinart bread maker

There's a little arrow in the LCD screen that changes from 1, 1.5, and 2 lbs when you press loaf. There is also one for light, medium, and dark crust. Each time you press either button, the arrow will change which setting it's pointing to.

If you're using it in an area with low lighting, try using a flashlight (I have to do that on mine).
