Question about Canon Office Equipment & Supplies
Reinstalled printer drivers; tried unplugging and leaving off overnight; then removed cartridges and printer head; cleaned head with hot water and isopropyl alcohol; reinserted them and performed alignment and color assessment- some colors wouldn't print out on test. Was able to print from computer for two pages but printer would not copy or scan although mechanically scanner and print heads would move appropriately like they were working correctly...then B200 error message returned and printer is back to non-functioning. Obviously buying a new printer is an option but would really like to know how to FIX this one! Thank you for your helpful responses.

i was woundering are these new cartages or refiled ?
cause our wont work with refilled caratages
so this is how i found that out !
Issue After you install a print cartridge, the scan, copy, and fax lights begin to flash at the same time. The printer will not print. One of the following error messages may display on the control panel:

Had the same issue... No black ink. Called the # from "Solution #1" guest, 18004216699. Had to patiently go through all the basic trouble shooting stuff like calibration, print head clean, demo print, etc. Once I went through that, they issued me a new print head for free, no shipping charges or anything. Just did this today, but they say I should have the print head in 3 days.
For once, service worked like it should!

SOURCE: Brother MFC-5440 Print Head
To remove it you pretty much have to take apart the printer, tip up the lid and try and get the scanner cover verticle and then slide to the left it should detach and then undo all the screws you see on the top were the pinter head is, and i would recommend Alcohol Swabs (IsoPropyl Alcohol), Then just reverse the dissassimbay directions
P.S. Don't forget to rate me
P.S.S. If you follow my directions you do so at your own risk, I am not liable for any damages that occur

Hi it's Gill again. I've been looking around more on the net and I think the problem is our printers need new printheads which I'm told are spare parts easy to change. Hope this helps. Gill

Try this :
Take out the power cable from the back of the printer keep on tapping the power button for 30 secs ; then plug it back.
Take out the catridges clean them with a Lint free cloth (copper contacts); also clean the catridge slot of the printer; put in back the catridges ;
Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer; press and hol down the (#) and the (6) button simultaneously with one hand and with the other hand put in back the power cable; and then release the (#) and (6) button;
It will perform a reset on the printer
IF still then it doesn't work then the catridge slot's copper contacts has gone bad and need to replace
