How do I recalibrate the needle position? it is off centre and I cannot correct it

When the machine thinks the needle is centred, it is off to the left about 3mm. Centering it using the controls works but it is +2 off centre. I cannot embroider as the needle cannot be moved and it hits the foot.

SOURCE: Kenmore sewing machine 385.1960180, problem with needle centering

That sounds like it's definitely an internal adjustment. The machine will need to be opened up and the left/right adjustment taken care of. Is this machine one that you can open the top easily, or is it the type that has the front and rear shell?

SOURCE: The needle constantly breaks while embroidering.

My foot does this with different thickness of fabrics, it will make the foot land in different, areas, sometimes making the needle hit the foot. Always check needle position before you start embroidering. once your hoop is ready, check the clearance. I often have to use a small roll of non slip material under the foot handle, the one used to bring the foot down. And I use this to adjust the needle postition so it will always land in the middle of the embroidery foot. There is also a way to adjust the height of the needle arm but that's too complicated to get into here and I've never personally tried it.

This machine has a built in needle position adjustment.
Check your owners manual.

There could be 2 reasons for this problem.
1. Your machine is old and due that some machine programs are not functioning properly.
2. You are not using right foot for those certain stitches.

The solution for the first problem is to replace the memory chip of the machine. But you cannot do it yourself. You have to take help of the service centre.

For the second problem you can get right foot and your problem will be solved.

Needle hits the quilting presser foot

Needle may be slightly bent. Needle may not be properly or fully inserted into the needle clamp or holder. Needle may even have a burr on it or be too dull. Needles must be changed fairly often, especially with many of the modern synthetic fabrics. They do not last forever.

Change the needle first, for a new one, be sure it is properly inserted. Then, make sure you have not accidentally set your stitch width incorrectly. I've done that myself after using a zig zag stitch mode and forgetting to change it, or not change it all the way back to straight stitching.

Some machines will allow the needle to be set at centre, left of centre or right of centre, so be sure it's in the correct place for the stitch and foot you are using, or you will hit the foot.

Hope one of those turns out to be the right tip.

I think my husqvarna emerald 118 sewing machine needs to be timed.Bobbin keeps popping out, needle is hitting the bobbin case

If the bobbin case is correctly in position then the needle striking it is a sure fire indication that the timing has jumped. Time for a trip to your local sewing centre for a service and retime I would suggest.

How to change the needle position?

it is posssible that the left position is the correct position for general stitching. Moving to centre or right may come in when using zigzag stitch. If it is sewing as it should I would leave it. If it still bothers you then take it in for a service at an accredited sewing machine repair specialist.

That's an indicator that something is wrong with the machine, but it's usually user fixable. I'm going to assume that that happens when you attach the embroidery unit and turn the machine on. It indicates that for whatever reason, your machine cannot move the hoop to its default position. That could be because you have the small hoop attached (turn it on with NO hoops), the needle is not in its HIGHEST position, or the unit itself is not making a complete connection. Make sure that it is on solid level surface, raise the needle to its highest position (ALWAYS turn the wheel towards you), make sure the unit is making solid contact, and remove all hoops, and then try turning it on.

i looked up the manual and didn't see anything about needle position. Here's a copy so you can read at your leisure.

In the middle of stitching a design - and when I came to a color change, the new color began stitching 1 to 2 inches below where it should. The screen showed the correct place, but the needle was way too...

If the design isn't too big, try rotating it in the hoop and stitch it sideways. If it works in that position, you probably should have the embroidery unit cleaned. I recommend the embroidery unit be serviced every 5 years. It may need it more often depending on your environment.
