Perhaps the rechargeable battery is defect so it can't give the memory a voltage, while the TV is switched off?
That is where I would look.

No there should be a rechargable battery in the tv to backup the memory. Not a thing you can replace by the way you are asking these questions. I could not even search if and where it should be, because I don't have the model number of your TV not sure I will have the service manual eighter, because I don't have all manuals just then ones I used in the past. I'm not buying new manuals, because I'm now retired.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When i turn my tv on it shows do not power off scan, so i cannot view any channels

It's just trying to set itself up by scanning to see what available channels are present. You should be able to let it finish and then your TV will be programmed to only tune the channels you can actually receive.

This can sometimes take 10-15 minutes so be patient.

try holding down the menu button for 10 secs. This does a factory reset. Then the TV does a service scan (including the analogue channels). TV then retains all the channels when switched off and starts normally. Worked for me.

Hi - I have an older model Sanyo 14" tv (?1994/5) that has probably less than 100 hrs use -- Model #DS13530 - the channel does not hold to a specific set - it wants to continuously scan through all...

This sounds like a capacitor fault, although I would not know which one. Most likely in the power supply. You Could try switching on and leaving on for a little while, ie about two or three hours. This may charge this capacitor up.
Alternately, you should take it to a TV engineer to have it fixed.
Hope this helps.

I have an RCA F27442 TV without G-link cables and need to select cable tv channel input. The setup routine will not allow selecting cable channel input unless I first set up G-link. Is there any other way...

Yes, enter the menu. Look for signal source (ant/cable) select cable. Then run channel scan. This is an older TV and will require some time for the system to scan the cable channels and adjust. The process could take up to 20 min. Do not disrupt. Wait fo unit the TV is completed the process. If you have the operations manuel, the step by step for this process is posted.

Please note this TV is only capable of process NTSC TV signals. If the cable company you are using is supply Digital or Quam or ATSC type signals then the TV just won't work.

G-link can be turned off through the menu. You should see that selection in the first or second page of the set up menu. G-link is for TV guide and record setup for VCR operation. The TV guide should also be set to off or "no" in the same setup menu. You MUST got through the complete setup menu in order for the TV Guide not to try to operate each time you turn on the TV.

Hi,

You either set the options incorrectly when running the "First Time Setup" or you skipped the first time setup entirely. Even though the cable works with your older TV, you still need to setup your new TV correctly to receive the cable feed.

The quickest way to do this is run the setup manually from the menu as follows:

1. Turn the TV on
2. Press the "MENU" button on the remote
3. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "SETUP" (the arrows are the big ring button around "OK")
4. Press "OK" to enter the SETUP MENU
5. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "PROGRAM CHANNEL"
6. Press "OK" to enter the PROGRAM CHANNEL MENU
7. Use the LEFT/RIGHT arrow key to ensure "CABLE" is highlighted
9. Use the DOWN arrow key to highlight "AUTO"
10. Press "OK" to enter the AUTO SCAN MENU
11. Highlight "ALL CHANNELS" using the UP/DOWN arrows
12. Press "OK" to start the AUTO SCAN

The scan may take several minutes to complete.

13. Highlight "APPLY" using the the LEFT/RIGHT arrow keys.
14. Press "OK" - all of the scanned channels will now be saved.

The TV should now return to viewing mode and you should be able to watch cable on your new TV. If the TV does not automatically exit the menu, simply press the "EXIT" key on the remote, next to the MENU button.

Please run through the above steps and if you are still unable to get the cable channels on your new TV, please post back for further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric

LG 42PX5D 42 in. HDTV Plasma

Send it back ASAP and get a replacement! I'm serious. You wouldn't want to baby sit this lemon by missing work because you're waiting for a home service tech provided by the company. When the tech comes, he will not have the part required to fix the unit and you'll be waiting at least a week to get another service call. That's another day missing work. You are one lucky guy if the servicer can totally fix the unit to your satisfaction in two visits. Days missed at work could very well add up into buying a new TV. Do not take ownership of this problematic unit especially if you just bought it. Send it back!
