Hi
Was the backed up version of the address book openable by WinXP or one of its programmes? If it was you may be able to run WinXP as a virtual machine on Win8.1, otherwise you need to find a programme which will open the address book file or import it in a form that makes sense. This may not be easy !
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

P.S. Regarding my problem of transferring data to my Zaurus ZR 3000 PDA from XP desktop, I need to mention that i no longer have its win 95 diskettes , but only the manual, which under the circustances is...

your problably going to have buy second hand one from ebay or something just to get the disks, iv'e had a search for you online with no success, once you have the disks you can run them using right click then properties and click on run as previous version, XP is backwards compatible to win95, although they could be issues when using the software. My suggestion is to buy a more upto date PDA or simply use a smartphone there pretty good nowadays. best regards.

I lost my old Sharp Zaurus ZR 3000 K-PDA data when I changed its memory battery. The Zaurus software disks (Win. 95) were useless after I moved up to WinXp, and now are lost. Any idea how could I transfer...

It was ages ago I used my ZR5800. Looks like the 3000.
I only have the device and some old flash cards. Most of my data was coppied to the flashcards. I lost my manual, but I'm sure you could connect by infra red to a laptop. or another IR device.
The flashcards worked in the old laptops, so if you have an old laptop, check if you can put the flashcards in and if you can connect via IR.

Is there any way to interace with USB

You will need 3 items to interface your Wizard with a USB port.

1. A generic USB to RS-232 adapter cable (with 9-pin serial connector, to match the connector on the OZ-730 interface cable).

2. A USB to RS-232 driver for the above cable. (If you have Windows XP: HL-340.EXE, contained in 111.rar, which can be downloaded from www.usbserialdrivers.com. If you have another version of Windows, or if you have Linux, you will have to consult the documentation on www.usbserialdrivers.com to find the correct driver.

3. Software to communicate with the Wizard. You should be able to use the software that came with it, or purchase RuppLynx, or download Microsoft ActiveSync or a similar free program.

I used a cable I purchased on ebay, the HL-340.EXE driver installer, and RuppLynx software to connect an OZ-730, an OZ-570, and a Zaurus 5800 to my Windows XP laptop without any problem.

Migrate Palm address book to MacBook

This is a general answer to head you in the right direction, I hope. Reply back if you need more detail.

If you are syncing with Windows Palm Desktop software, you can (most likely) export contacts, calendar and memo items to a CSV file.

CSV files are data standards. They're simply text files with a comma-delimiter that designates where fields end. This makes them cross-platform compatible.

Once you export to CSV files, get them on your mac (email them to yourself, put them on a flash drive etc) and then import them into iCal, Address book etc.
