Hi
Just a thought but how is your DVD connected to the TV?
If the DVD player is connected to the TV and the headphones to the cable box, then the audio will be going direct to the TV and no chance for the headphones to pick it up.
If however the DVD player is connected to the cable box and then to the TV, I think I would expect it to work and cannot think of a reason why not.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

I bought a freeview box, My tv has only one scart socket. how do i connect my dvd player to combine with this?

You need a video switch box, that has two video and audio inputs and a video and audio output that connects to the video and audio connections on the scart cable.
Then you can switch between the DVD player or the freeview box.
These devices are available on the Internet, use Google to search for these devices.

Don't used the Blu Ray player on the tv HDMI out put hub.Used the connections for of the Blu Ray player connections by a S-Video cable for the video and the RCA component cable R,W for the connections for the audio out.The high Def.cable box will not work for high Def. this way,but the Blu Ray player will.

My television does not have an audio output so i connected the rs 110 to my cable box and it works fine...however i also have a dvd player connected to the tv video input and for some reason i cannot hear...

You cannot hear the audio from the DVD player because your headphones are connected directly into the cable box. I'm assuming that your DVD does not route through your cable box, thus the audio has no way of getting to your RS 110's. Also, changing the channel on the TV has no effect on the cable box, thus it won't alter than audio.
What you need to do:
  1. Look on the cable box to see if there is an option for AUDIO in (should be a pair of red and white RCA plugs)
  2. You want to run an RCA cable from the AUDIO OUT of the DVD player to the AUDIO IN of the cable box
  3. Then select the Auxillary input from the cable box and you should be able to hear the DVD
Alternatively you can run both DVD audio and video through the cable box
  1. Look for DVD IN on the cable box
  2. Connect the audio/video cables from the DVD player to the cable box
  3. To watch a DVD, switch to the DVD input on the cable box
Alternatively you can run the cable box through the DVD player
  1. There may be inputs for AUDIO and VIDEO in on the back of the DVD player
  2. You want to connect the outputs of the Cable box into the back of the DVD player
  3. You can then select the input on the DVD player to control whether you see/hear the cable or DVD

I'm trying to hook up my Panasonic DVD player (model DVD-S29) to a Comcast cable box but have not been successful. My DVD player only has Audio Out connections, with no audio in connections. I...

the cable in should go to the box and cable out from the box to the TV.These should all be coaxial cables correct?Hook up the DVD player to the TV using the red, white, and yellow cables is also correct. In order to watch a DVD,you have to use the input select button on the remote for the TV ONLY to change inputs. If you have a universal remote for the TV and not the original factory remote provided with the TV,you need to use the menu button located on the outside of the TV.I just searched on my flat screen and was unable to find an input select through the menu button. It may not be possible on this TV if you do not have the original remote and if you own a universal. My universal for one of my older TV's is about 7 years old so I do not know if newer ones have an input select option. If they do not,it is most likely due to patents and royalty payments which these cheap remote makers do not want to pay.Anyhow, let me know if this helps.Just comment here and i will get an auto link to your comments.Good luck! Are you connecting these devices to the ColorStream inputs?

If so you will need to set the output settings on the DVD player or your camera to 480i. You have an HD capable TV but it is old technology and is not capable of handling the signal levels produced by HD equipment these days.

Look at the menu options on your equipment and most of them have the ability to put out the lower level signal or just hook them up using the standard yellow/red/white inputs. Hope this helped.

Good Luck..

Connecting DVD to cable only TV and Modulator box and Dish Networ

Without knowing the actual ports on each of these devices, all I can suggest is that have you tried connecting your DVD to the Dish box (thru VCR scart connection at the back of the Dish box) and then the Dish box into your modulator (and then modulator into your tv.

I have a similar system set up but we have a Sky Digital box here, no idea if its the same as a Dish box but im assuming so.

HDTV OR NO?

You can use a cable box providing that its HD option is working. With many of the cable companies, you have to pay to have the HD option in the cable box activated. Then you have to pay subscription for the HD channels. That is the way it is at where I am located. Without the HD subscription active on our cable boxes this feature is dead!

The only reliable way for you to know if the HD option works in your TV itself is to get a known to be working HD source such as an HD DVD player and try it out.

Cable users: If you have Cable TV and used Cable Box in Connecting Antenna/Cable TV to DVD/VCR using a cable box converter, you must set the channel in this step to match the cable box output channel (usually 3 or 4). Change channels on the cable box instead of the DVD/VCR

Trying to connect dvd player

You will have to connect your DVD player to the plasma TV, not the cable box. The cable box (or most cable boxes) have video outputs only. The same is true for the DVD player: it outputs the video to the tv.

Look in your DVD manual for scenarios for connecting your player to the tv.
