SOURCE: just moved a set of JBL Creature Speakers...

Yes - this could be the solution: on the little speakers, one has silver buttons on either side (they look like screws). Push the plus sign, Might I comment that these speakers are really inferior to my sound sticks that I have at home.

SOURCE: JBL Creature Speakers have very low volume

I had the same problem. Then I read about the volume controls on the right speaker. They are silver buttons for me on the front bottom left and right of the speaker. Now they play really loud!

SOURCE: I have JBL encounter speakers and i want use them with my Mac, when i plug nothing comes out (sound)

Hi,
Wanted to clarify , if the you plug in a headphone are you are able to get the sound from them . If yes than , you might need to check the connection on the speakers. If the headphones are also not working through the audio jack . You would have to check the following

1. Check if there is any external damage to the audio jacks both on the MAC and the JBL connector
2. Check if the sound properties on the MAC are configured correctly
3. Check if the sound card drivers are installed correctly.

Thanks for using fixya

Below is the review from a jbl jembe 2.0 owner that may provide a clue for your problem. I am providing the link to the page also, but it may not work.

Irritating to own
I'm going to concur with the other reviews. These speakers would be nice, if only they would stay on. For whatever reason, they've included some kind of auto shut off that doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it. Presumably, it's when it gets too quiet, and doesn't think it needs to be on. But I've had it go quiet on me where there was clearly sound present. Then, to get them to turn back on, you have to either rotate the volume to turn it off, and then back on again, or wait for your video to create a loud enough noise for the speakers to indicate that it's time to turn back on again. Who knows what you've missed by that point.
This is something that was probably created with a noble intent, but they've failed in its execution. When they operating, the sound quality is quite nice, and they did their job of reducing the amount of desk space that was being taken up by my very old component speakers. Which was really what I wanted them for. Unfortunately, any good qualities they have are seriously overwhelmed by this, what I consider, a major design flaw. Which is equally a shame, because they're not cheap.

Jbl low volume

The output voltage being fed from your sound card is insufficient to properly drive the speakers. Use more efficient speakers or amplify the output and then feed your JBL's.

Your best bet beyond maxing out memory will be upgrading to an SSD. Depending on your operating system and versions of installed software, try using a program like XSlimmer to remove any powerpc files included in universal bundles.

No sound from speakers

Probably.
Do they connect to the computer via USB or mini plug?
If mini plug, make sure you have the right jack on the back of the computer (there's two)
Then go into System Preferences ... select "Sound" and see if you can select something other than "Internal Speakers" - the computer may just not be aware that you want to use the external speakers ...
Are the speakers powered? Is there a volume control on the subwoofer, or an external fob with a volume control on it? You probably know this if you used them previously with your Compaq computer ...

Good luck!

it sound like you did the right thing . The problem is the mac output for sound is bad or the TV input sound is bad.
try input a mp3 radio to the TV verify TV is working.
put an earphone to the mac to verify the mac out sound is working .
if both are working just tool around a little and you will get it. good luck
