I've got a Black and Decker bread maker that has been working fine until now. The dough won't mix- the paddle on The bottom of the pan spins freely, and the motor driven rotator seems to work fine as well, but somehow it is not mixing. Please help!

SOURCE: My Black & Decker B900SC bread machine doesn't mix properly

Have you tried adding a bit more water to your mix? It sounds as if your dough is too dry. Sometimes, no matter how exact you follow directions, you have to compensate for variables of the machine. I have a similar problem with some of my bread mixes if I do not add an extra tbsp or two of water.

Probably the paddle and shaft are worn. Both are replaceable. Buy a new Paddle and a Kneader mounting shaft unit (Part No. ADA 29A115)

SOURCE: I have the Black and Decker All-In-One Deluxe

There is a sealed bearing in the bottom of the bread pan. The paddle sits on the sealed bearing shaft. Over time the bearing begins to fail and the paddle does not turn freely or it may even freeze up. If you are sure everything is installed correctly this may be the problem. See if the paddle moves freely by hand and is not really loose. Sealed bearings can not be replaced. Eventually you will need a new bread pan. Sorry Hank

SOURCE: I have a Regal bread maker K6773. At the bottom

Hi..That assembly is part of the sealed bearing in the bottom of the pan. That sealed bearing allows the shaft and paddle to turn freely. Unfortunately Regal stopped making bread machines and parts several years ago so the chances of you finding a replacement is rare. Hank

Hi, The sealed bearing located on the bottom of the bread pan has failed. This bearing is sealed with lubricant to allow the paddle shaft to spin easily. The black stain you see is the lubricating grease. You need a new bread pan. Hank

Hi, It could be that the paddle is sticking or the belt is slipping. This would cause the ingredients not to be mixed properly. Take the empty pan and paddle out of the machine and see if you can spin it freely by hand. It shouldn't stick. If it does stick then the sealed bearing is frozen and a new bread pan is needed. If everytrhing is fine, then check the belts. Belts and motor are located in base of the machine. Unplug machine before working on the belts. Hank

First time use. set machine to dough and pressed

Hi, Keep the bread pan out of the machine and start a kneading cycle. Look through the lid window and see if the motor shaft is turning. If no...then the belt fell off. If the motor spins, check to make sure the paddle spins freely. Keep pan out and turn paddle by hand. If no then the bearing is frozen. If that's ok..make sure you inserted the pan correctly into machine. If everything checks out then it's a faulty machine. Before you do anything send it out for warranty service. Usually it's warranted for a year. Hank

The machine does not rotate, I mean it does not mix the dough, the sound is on of rotating but it doesnt move on.

Hi,
Take the bread pan and paddle out of the machine and see it you can spin the paddle freely by hand. If no, then the sealed bearing is frozen or broken. If yes keep the pan out of the machine and start a kneading cycle. Look through the lid window and see if the motor shaft is spinning. If no then the belt fell off or snapped, or the motor is broken. Hi,
That contamination seems to be oil from the lubricated bearing at the bottom of the bread pan. This bearing is factory sealed, but the seal and the bearing is broken or worn causing the shaft to move freely.

Unfortunately there is no fix and the pan must be replaced.

Hi,
Empty the bread pan and clean it out. Put the pan and paddle back in the machine but do not add ingredients. Start the bread cycle and look in the window (or lift the lid) during the mixing cycle. You should see the paddle spinning around.. If not you probably need a new belt.
