Question about Kurio 7" Tablet with 4GB Memory for Families and Kids

1 Answer

I want to wipe it down to a basic tab and make my own decisions what my toddler can have.

I have done the settings etc per their special ed directions and now I can't get my google off of it. I locked App Store etc yet he can get in. Their settings make zero sense. The company is a joke! I had to research for the parent company to get the 4" one replaced as the memory card kept shooting out n almost put out my eye! They sent me this junk as replacement! I got him an ipad..lol I just want to strip it and stop energy drain and put normal educational only apps. Help!!!

I think this is really beyond answering on here, but if you are willing to void your warranty you can do a search for:
AOKP Jelly Bean Android 4.1.2 Allwinner A10 on slatedroid and see if it's compatible as that seems to be the same tablet.

Android System Recovery

Obvious question is what the tablet had been doing during its' last use.
Was something newly installed, was system or apps updated, etc. ?
Were all the APPs and or system shut down properly ?
Did update or installation recommend restarting system, prior to use ? Were multiple installations / updates performed ?

Your device appears to be in a recovery boot-loop.
As stupid as this may sound ...
Is the power adapter connected ? Let battery charge for at least 30 minutes and try again.
If battery is low, it may not complete the reset. - you should have seen something on the screen, denoting " wipe and reset " procedure and completion - prior to (#1) Rebooting device

Per your post, you have already (#4) wiped the data and instructed the device to reset to factory settings, then (#1) Reboot system.
That is the generally accepted reset method

This problem is not all that uncommon, it generally results when attempting reset, internal boot commands error for what ever reason. ( can not find the factory restore / recovery file set ).

This problem is more common when "fixes ", Specialty " Roots " or "mods" have been installed by the user - making changes to the boot program and commands OR when manufacturer files have been deleted / moved from system access. - Common suggestion is to work backwards through the mod processes and / or attempt to re-install mod or follow the special mod recovery method.

Without having available the proper ROM " flash " update / installation file(s), and you may " brick " the device.
I recommend you go to manufacturer site and check for available ROM files, reset / reinstallation processes ( memory card method ? )

You state the tablet is less than six months old. You may want to contact manufacturer for possible warranty service.

They will most likely ask the referenced obvious questions, to better understand the cause / nature of the device failure and recommend the best immediate possible solution.

This may not be what you seek, I hope it will provide better direction.

Htc Reset

The HTC Desire has a built in function that allows you to reset it back to the settings it came with, direct from the factory.
This does wipe all the data on the device, including contacts, apps, pictures and videos, but is sometimes good as a last resort.
It's very easy to do, and if you're device is playing up or you've got some bugs on it, this is the perfect way to get it back in its original working order.
Here is how it's done:
  1. Turn the power off. If your HTC Desire is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
  2. Hold the Volume Down button
  3. Press and release the Power button
  4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
  5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
  6. Press and release the Power button
  7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC Desire. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

How do you wipe a HP Laptop

Or, if you have a CD/DVD with an operating system, like Windows 2000 or newer on it, put it into the drive, and boot from that disk. When asked, tell it you want to format the drive, or initialize the drive, and when done, find a graceful way to exit.

Then, do it again.

Of course, if you have a DVD or CD from Symantec, or Norton, see if there is a Wipe Disk utility on it. If so, choose the Government Spec to wipe your drive clean. This all assumes that you do not want anyone else to find data on the HD once you're done with it.

Government specs will wipe it clean seven times, using special characters, rewriting them over and over until all that is left is garbage that even the old KGB couldn't figure out.

Cheers!

My router is working fine. My network is unsecured and I am having some of my neighbours kids tap into my internet connection. My question is how do I program my router to be secured so that I do not...

  1. Go to the router administration page - Open a browser window (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and enter the URL "http://192.168.1.1" and hit ENTER
  2. The use the password "admin" without a username and you should be able to get in (unless, of course, you have changed it in the past)
  3. Change the password, click on "Administration" and enter a new password into Router Password, and again into the box below it.
  4. I would suggest changing some of the settings at this point to make it more secure, but after that click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page (at this point the router will restart)
  5. After you change the admin password (Steps 1 thru 3) follow steps 1 and 2 to get back into the Administration page, and remember to use the new password you set up in step 3
  6. Along the top of the screen you will see a list of "tabs" labeled, "Setup", "Wireless","Security", etc.- click on "Wireless"
  7. Right below where you clicked on "Wireless" you should now see another set of "tabs" - "Basic Wireless Settings", "Wireless Security", "Wireless MAC Filter", and "Advanced Wireless Settings"
  8. Click on "Wireless Security"
  9. In the "Security Mode" drop down box, select WPA2 Personal
  10. In "Encryption" drop down box, select "AES"
  11. In "Passphrase" text box, enter a phrase you can remember as you will need this to connect other computers to the network. Make sure it is long and should be a combination of letters and special characters
  12. Click Save Settings button
  13. Now your wireless network is secure - but anything using the wireless connection will require you to enter the Passphrase (created in step 11) to connect to the network. You should only have to enter it once per computer.
  14. If you want, you can change your wireless network "Name" (called SSID) by going to the "Basic Wireless Settings" and click Manual - change the Network Name to something you can identify.

How do I increase text size

Are you referring to the default text size Vista uses? Then, contrary to windows XP, in Vista you have to separately increase the text size for different instances.
1. Right click on the desktop and select personalize

2. Select Windows Color

3. Select the required item of which text size is to be increased.(for example: Icon, Message Box etc.)

4. Then you can change the text size, font, color, and font weight

I CANNOT get the arm-rests OFF!!!!! I read some solutions but they didn't tell me what I needed. I see the tabs you're supposed to push in so that the arm-rests will pull off, but I have pushed, pulled,...

Grab a pair of pliers! With the pliers, pull the bottom tab out towards you and slide the top tab underneath. Once the top tab is under the bottom, the armrest will pop right off.

This is normal. Bear in mind that the JPEG file has all the image processing done, while the RAW is just the raw data. Depending on your image settings (contrast, saturation, sharpening, etc) you may see some differences.
