Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
Check the obvious, first: inspect the glass of the copier's scanner for anything that could prevent the scanner from getting a clear image of the document that you wish to scan, & MAKE SURE THAT THE DOCUMENT'S PRINTED SIDE IS FACING THE SCANNER. Furthermore, make certain that the toner/ink cartridge(s) have been properly installed with the packaging tape & any plastic interrupter pieces removed. It could be out of ink or have a dirty/clogged printhead--which would require choosing a printhead cleaning option from the printer's maintenance menu.

Have you verified that the scanner is not in the locked position? There is a unlock switch located underneath the paper exit. First power the printer down lock and then unlock this switch then repower the printer and try your scan again.
