You may have burned out a fuseable link Alternators now are very sophisticated. Some have resistors, rectifiers, and chips in them that match the vehicles computer code. If the link is buned out you must replace it with another fusable link wire. Apparently there was a short when you wired it and it burned out the link..

1989 Camry electrical Issues

wow old and still on the road that old, rare here, USA.
the charge lamp means the Aternator is failing
causes are.
1: belt slips to it or belt missing
2: wire to it fell off. or burned, cut etc.
3: fuse huge 50amp blown under hood.
4:the alternator is bad.
5:engine trouble such that RPM is 500 rpm AT IDLE AND THE ALTERNATORS JUST DO NO LIKE THAT.

ALL YOUR STATED EVIDENCE IS 100% NORMAL FOR DEAD ALT.

charge up the battery and drive to a shop and tell them to fix the ALT.
they even test it.

Hooked battery up backwards

You need to take the Alternator in for a Bench check. The diodes are probably bad. Wiper switch or motor can be bad. Radio can be smoked.

For wiper motor, the contact points use a system where a derailer mechanically shifts the points to break contact. The contacts are probably fused.

2001 ford expedition radio and wipers wont come on

First check out the fuse box under the dash board and find the fuses and relays indicated. Swap out the relays to test the (possible) bad one AFTER you check out the fuses!
