Check where wires attach to collector plates. Possibly there is a a burn mark there. Or these units also spark when humidity is very low.

Can you give more information ?? I presume you are using an ioniser . In that case the above advice will do but if it is a HEPA air purifier most of them tend to be noisy and if the noise is unusual probably the fan is running at a faster speed than the stipulated limit .

SOURCE: My Ionic Breeze air purifier makes an intermittent

you need to turn it off and remove plates, put in kitchen sink and spray with windex and dry with paper towels, now clean the bottom of the three plates too.
before you reinstall the plates look down inside you will see three thin lines of metal, make sure there is no lint or dust on them, reinstall and let set for five min. to allow any windex that might still be wet then turn on low for a couple of min.then go to medium

I cleaned purifier plate and filters and purifier still won't workon my fresh air machine

The air purifier filters which need to be washed lose their efficiency very fast and need replacement every few months . I think its time you switched to a better air purifier like this with superior filters which last longer and can be cleaned using a vacuum cleaner Premium Air Purifiers with e2f technology

Why does clean stay on

it has a reset function hold down power 5 sec otherwize check to see if there is any dark spots on the bottom before reinserting. 1st make sure its unplugged then 2nd there should be a copper set up as if putting a 9 volt battery into a fire alarm. there should be two side by side the darkening is where either cleaner was left still dripping or a dust partical probably from the paper towel. caused a static charge. use a Q tip to clean it . and always make sure it is dry if u hear a static sound unplug it is still wet.

It keeps making a static sound. and it lights up with the sound because there is a small shock that happens ever 10 seconds in the back above the filter

That happens when the electrostatic grid needs to be cleaned. There should be instruction for cleaning the electrostatic grid in the owner's manual.

No matter how much I clean the machine after it is turned on for 10 min or more it starts to buzz and make a static noise, any other suggestions?

The buzzing noise is not from dust in the air purifier, it's from the dust and pollutants in the air, it's now picking up. It should stop once the air is cleaned.

My Oreck air filter makes a snapping sound every 5-10 minutes. I have cleaned it thoroughly and checked for wires but I can't see anything wrong. I even switched the air filters thinking that one room was...

Dont use when it does this. Your collection grate is dirty and the sound you hear is an electrical discharge arcing between the grates like a small bolt of lightning. That entire metal electrostatic grate needs to be cleaned with Orek's cleaner or something similar. But certainly do not use until you fix it.

I cleaned the cells on my Honeywell electronic air cleaner and now it won't run. The CHECK led is lit. Got any ideas?

Make sure the furnace or air conditioner blower is running.

Make sure the access door is firmly closed and latched. If door is not closed properly, an interlock keeps the air cleaner off.

XL-15S, NO OZONE

Hello fleamrk,

Several possiblities here. Not static sound means the plasma discharge plates aren't energized.

1) Missing, cracked or defective discharge plate (you say you cleaned the filter - did you mean the lint screen in back, or the glass or white ceramic plate inside)? No plate, no ozone (O3) production.

2) Bad connection in the high voltage leads*.

3) Bad electrical components*.

*I'm not an electrician, and recommend that only qualified personnel troubleshoot high voltage electronic, both for safety, and for preventing further damage to circuitry. Visible problems, such as corroded or broken terminals that can be swapped when it's de-energized (unplugged) is one thing; having to dig deeper into the electronics is something that I expect to rapidly end up costing more than it's worth.
