Question about Washing Machines
My guess would be replace the pump, it is normally driven by the motor and if the wash cycle is good the motor is operational. You have to investigate to find the actual part to replace.

SOUNDS LIKE A PLUMBING PROBLEM WITH DRAIN PIPE .YOU COULD FIT NONRETURN VALVE TO DRAIN FROM WASHER BUT THAT WOULD NOT STOP SINK FROM OVER FLOWING

If this machine is not belt driven, then more than likely is the motor coupler. To give you an idea of this problem follow this link....
