The door on the top is not closed properly. When you open the top door(cover),you will see a button that is located on the top of the grinder cover. that is a switch that tells the coffee maker that the door is closed and can safely make coffee..please check that all parts are in place and top door(cover) is closed comepletly. good luck.

Most failures of coffee makers are related to thermal fuses which have opened and interrupted the current flow to the heating element.
Often, they failed for no particular reason but replacing the fuses would probably cost as much as tossing the whole machine.
Yeah, I know, I don't like it either.
Before retirement, I earned my living fixing stuff we can now buy cheaper new.

The machine has a reset capability to set the amount of coffee. Just push and hold the button for as long as you want coffee. Then let go of the button and it's reset.

It appears to be the power module at the bottom of the unit. Service centers sell a replacement unit that includes the control/display module. I don't know how much they charge to replace it. Replacing the power module requires comple disassembly of the unit to make the new connections to the thermal block, solenoid, pump, coffee heaters and control module. You have to take good notes on the connections and it could be a safety risk.

It sounds like you've put it into descaling mode. Hold down the "large" button for a second or two and water should start coming through. Press the large button again to stop it. Lift the capsule eject handle and put it back down. Then hold down both buttons for about 3 seconds to exit descaling mode.
