Question about Frigidaire Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I have a Frgidaire es100 gas range(04-05). The broiler does not fire up and the oven cannot reach higher heats. The burner shows blue flames of about 1" along the length of the burner. The igniter remains on, trying to ignite whatever will allow it to reach higher temps/broil. Do I need to replace burner, safety valve, & igniter or just the burner?

Good Morning Robin C Reamer, thanks for your post!
From what you have described the broiler on your Frigidaire range is not starting. In order to have the proper component replaced I would suggest consulting with a professional technician in your area. Based off the information you provided it could be an issue with the burner or safety valve and having a professional come out would reduce the costs of parts. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Oven wont heat broiler wont heat

is this a gas or electric range. If it is gas it sounds like a flame sensor is not working. The oven will try to fire up, but if it does not sence a flame, it will shut off again to keep the range from filling with raw gas. Also the easy one, is the gas turned on?

Ge gas range oven burner flames perfect, broiler flames rolling & orange

Anytime the flames on a burner aren't blue or "perfect" as you say... it means that there is an improper mixture of gas to air ratio... this is usually caused by either and obstruction..such as spider etc or grease... and is almost always the problem is located at the venture which is where air and the gas come together...try blowing that burner out real good with compressed air.
OR the same problem in mixture happens when the burner is wore out..corrosion causing the holes to enlarge or close up... in that case you need a new burner.
So I would "clean the fire out of it" and check for obstructions and corrosion
Hope this helps

Oven appears to start, takes forever to preheat,

This is what I would do: I would unplug the range and connect my test cord to your range cord. I use an ammeter along with my test cord to read the amp draw of the bake ignitor. If it cannot get above 3.5 amps I know the ignitor is bad or weak. Since the oven is working that means there is a good circuit. In order for the safety bi-metal to open the amp draw must reach 3.5 amps or better. So to me I am thinking bad ignitor. To get to it I remove the door oven racks and bottom, I then remove the flame spreader and unplug the quick connect to the ignitor. I remove the burner and ignitor and replace the ignitor on a work bench. I am too old to be bending over and trying to do any parts replacement inside an oven. LOL. I have a training film which shows how the silicone carbide ignitor works HERE. Post a model number and I may have a service manual, do not forget to rate the answer.

Broiler works, oven settings - no flame, no heat.

Hi, it sounds like the oven ignitor might be bad. Remove the floor panel inside the oven and you will see the ignitor attached to the burner assembly. Turn the oven on and see if it glows. You can test the connection for the ignitor and see if it gets 120V to it. The most common problem with the gas oven is the ignitor. Most of the time, the ignitor glows but is not strong enough to open the gas valve.
Please let me know if this was helpfull or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Gas oven not heating

waka,

I'm guessing that there is an issue of some kind with flow of heat inside the oven. Gas ovens use the hot air/gas exhaust to heat up the oven. Flames mean heat. The flames should be about half an inch long or so. If not, there may be an issue, but I don't think that is it.

Have you lined the oven with foil? It is possible that vents from the boiler section are closed up? That will prevent heat from reaching the oven.
