Question about Alesis DM-Dock USB/MIDI Drum Module for iPad
The 25 pin jack was replaced with an old printer jack which utelises the 25 pin jack.Iam using the color wires from the printer are they similar in comparison to the Alesis colors. The Alesis DM6 has 9 main Events meaning 8 x 2 cable wires plus an additional 3 for the snare pad this gives you a total of 19 wires.I am trying trial by error method.I have guessed the first three pads correctly eg Hi Hat control - Red /red White Hi - Hat - Green / Green White Tom3 - Blue / Blue White. As I am not familier with color codes of cables is there a standard one for Alesis DM6 AND IF SO WHAT IS IT.

Some of the Alesis products have a setup and data memory backed up by a battery. It is POSSIBLE that your battery expired and took the sound memory with it.
Investigate if you have a battery in yours (buried in the guts) and check the voltage. It should be above about 3 volts.
If it is below that, replace the battery and find another unit to clone the data from.

The sync signal that is sent on the MIDI cable is actually a "clock" of something like 96 ticks per measure. This is the "MIDI sync clock". This is a single byte FF hex.
The beats themselves are not sent. The firing of the individual percussions should be.

you may well have to go via a third unit, a computer or laptop to store the data then send it back to the other machine.
