Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Ice maker not working.

After I had the control panel changed, my ice maker stopped working a few days later. The water tray was empty so I added water manually. It froze but the ice didn't eject. I had overfilled the water tray so I don't know if the frozen ice was too thick to eject.

If your water tray was empty check the water supply to the fridge .
you shouldn't fill it manually.
\if the water supply is turned on, then the operating solenoid that allows water into the tray is faulty.
Whoever repaired your fridge should be called back immediately.

Ice maker not making ice

Hello John;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

You did not provide your model number so I am going to have to guess.

You may have a bad ice maker thermostat, heater or motor module.

Please resubmit your question with the model number and I will help you.

Possibly the water control valve is leaking when shut off, and water constantly drips into the ice tray fill tube. When this happens, the fill tube becomes clogged with ice, and the ice tray does not fill. The ice tray will cycle often, because there is no water in the tray, but will remain empty. If this is the case, the water control valve at the bottom rear of the refrigerator will have to be replaced.

My srf7520ss is not making ice

These fridges are renowned for this problem & even Samsung seem to not know the answer. BUT I DO & WILL SHARE.

I was about to replace the ice maker, as that is what everyone seems to recommend. BUT being a skinflint & a why is it so person, I decided to do some logical fault finding first.

There is this thing called fuzzy logic & these ice makers need to know you are using lots of ice, so as to make more.

I found that emptying a near full ice tray into a plastic bag & putting this bag in the freezer, the ice maker would not necessarily make more ice! If it did it was very little.

A few days of this & I decided to operate the ice discharger motor for like a minute & a half when the ice tray was empty.

Within 10 minutes one could hear water being loaded into the ice cube maker. Some time later the cubes being dropped into the tray & the filling/discharging process repeated, until next morning the tray was near full again.

In summer [like now, with our very hot 30*-38*C [90*-100*F] weather] I do this, all the time, so as to ensure we always have plenty of ice. Works everytime.

Away for an extended period, as we are often the tray will fill then no more [or turning off the ice maker while away] & the ice maker won't get back on track until you do the above.

Ive got a GE profile and my ice maker stopped working. I get water through the door so i took the ice maker line off to see if it was clogged or something. its weird no water comes out the ice maker side...

GE made different versions of the model listed above your post. If the Ice Tray is empty pour tap water into the tray and let it freeze. If it empties on its own, then I would tell you that the water control valve for the ice make is defective. For a few years the ice maker came with an electronic control board behind the front cover on ice maker. To make sure I will need you to look for the correct model number on locations pointed out below in photo. You also are welcome to get answers from me or our sites free. Enter your model number in the search feature and this will pull up the model with pictures and parts. Either way let me know what you find and if I can help you better, Thanks, Sea Breeze

We may need to test the water control valve on the back also, here
is a picture of the dual valve

10 yr old Frigidaire ice maker stopped making ice

try forcing the cycle by manually triggering the cycle a few times. Sometimes you can detach the trip arm or turn the tray by hand by disconnecting it from the gear. There may have been a switch bumped to turn it off or the switch somehow jammed. Maybe check for freeze-up. If there is water in it, it's going somewhere.

Ice maker doesn't work

try as little bit harder and the ice maker should pull out stright from the freezer. watch out for the holders they are on the back and they sometimes are broken if you are not carefull with them. there is also two wire that have to be unconected when you do this. they are moilex connectors and if you push the tabs they should pull apart real easily. Thanks for using FixYa And have a great new year.

Superba ice maker stopped working, door water still dispensing

Use a cup of water and just fill the ice cube maker with enough water for the first batch and the sensor will then begin making ice again.
My ice cube maker stopped working after I changed the filter. After reading countless posts about wiring and defrosting and using a blowdryer into the fill line I emptied my freezer and fridge, then unplugged it. I got no results after two days. I finally just put some water in the ice cube maker (the metal ice cube tray below the white plastic fingers that forms the cubes) plugged it back in and closed the door for a few hours and it worked. I wonder if I needed to defrost the unit at all. It was working before I changed the filter, then the filter was full and stopped water from flowing (or decreased the flow dramatically anyway).
Good Luck
