How am I able to recharge my battery charger after years of idleness?

I've had this charger for many years. It's been sitting on a shelf in my garage. I got it out the other day and tried to charge it, but it did't charge. I've lost the manual and am not sure I should take it apart to see if the battery inside needs changing. I think I remember the manual saying it should be recharged every month or something.

There is really no good way, unless you are able to fix it. Just buy a new charger! Good-Day!

Tips for charging new batteries in Jazzy Select Traveller

Check the charger output to verify whether or not you have a bad charger using a voltmeter. These smaller batteries are notorious for having a short shelf life and poor quality control from the manufacturer. Load test the batteries after you verify you have a working charger that will bring the batteries up to the proper voltage first.

1995 Buell S2 Battery will not start the bike

Sounds like the battery is not holding a charge, if you connect a volt meter just after charging you will get a good reading, each cell of a battery is 2.2 volts so you should have a reading of 13 volts. Battery may have a faulty cell, which will drag the other cells down, is the electolite covering the plates in all the cells, this will affect the battery's ability to hold a charge. My Suzuki did this earlier on this year, nearly bought a new battery, checked and topped up the electolite first and its been fine since

The charger that comes with Homelite 24v mower is crappy. I've gone thru 3 of them. What's a better alternative?

I have used a DieHard portable battery charger (model 200.71222) for several years to recharge my 24-volt, 18-year old Craftsman mulcher, model 315.370270. This is after the on-board charger died. I just disconnect the link between the two 12-volt batteries and remove all other battery connections. Then connect the charger leads to the positive and negative terminals on one of the batteries before plugging in the charger. I put the settings on the charger at conventional low maintenance and 2 amps. Charge one battery and then the other (assuming you have two 12-volt sealed lead acid batteries like my mower). I use binder clips 530-t.jpgfrom an office supply store to hold the battery wires on the terminals when I'm mowing...makes it simpler to remove and reattach for charging instead of the nut-and-bolt connectors that came with the mower.

How to know if Canadian Tire Eliminator car battery is still good

Do you live in a cold climate ? Cold climates will reduce battery shelf life quite a bit and 2 years without use is deffently long enough for it to loose charge. I would try a recharge and see where it stands if charged use it see howlong it will last under load. if it dont work call canadian tire and see if you can get a battery inspection at there garage in know where i live they do them for free. Hope this helps sorry about spelling and good luck

Purchased the two lithium and charger combo about two years ago. I use my Ryobi drill and flashlight in the garage and around the house no where near commercial/professional levels. About three (3)...

How long have these 2 batteries been standing idle without being charged? Lithium ion batteries can still discharge if left for too long. There is a voltage detector which detects whether the cells are too far discharged to be safely charged again and if that occurs the circuit is broken and the batteries will be deffective in the charger.
I have had the same problem with these and other LI batteries. Answer is replace the batteries and then make sure they are given a quick charge on a regular basis. However common advice seems to be that LI's should not be kept fully charged, but just partially charged until needed, then charge them for use, especially if usage is sporadic

Can not start, hear clicking sound in the fusebox ,the bike was in a shed for more then 3 years.

Make sure you have the proper water acid level in each cell of the battery. Then, connect your battery to a trickle charger, which is a charger that puts out 1 - 3 AMPS continuous. Leave it connected for 48 hours. Disconnect the charger and allow the battery to stabilize for about one hour. Then check your battery voltage. If it is 12VDC try and start the motor. If it is below 10.8VDC, replace the battery. Most motorcycle batteries don't have a very long shelf life, and your battery is probably no good for sitting for more than three years.

Car won't turnover...only a clicking sound when turning ignition

Hi,
A small battery charger may take 24 hours to charge your battery. If you are sure the battery is fully charged then you may want to clean your battery connections.

Rechargeable battery cannot be charged despite continous plug in of AC cord of charger

Battery is probably dead. Will need to purchase new one, not repairable. When replacing, do not buy "new" battery that has been sitting around on a shelf for several years. Will have much shorter life. Insist on battery that has been made within the last year, maybe 18 months at most. Expect to pay $50 to $125. To increase battery life, try not the let them fully discharge when using. Most recommendations are keeping them above 10% charge.
