SOURCE: power supply board led green light blinks 3 times.

vscan is a voltage used to setup the picture for the panal. It goes to the y sus board. The problem is at the power supply or the y sus board. You can check these with a meter.

SOURCE: Samsung TV Power Supply Board

I doubt that moisture damaged the SMPS bd.
There are many circuit boards in your set and it will take a trained samsung tech to find the problem.

I have a 50" panasonic tv model num TC-P50X5. it wont power up.My question is this ; where are the fuses and how will i know if its the power board?

Look closely at the board. Look for burnt or charred area's on it. With mine, if found the capacitors damaged. they are the little battery type looking pieces with the 3 scored-in dividers on the silver top. Yours look like they are black with silver top. I can't quite tell from this picture but it kind of looks like the one that stands alone may be damaged? Look to see if each one still has a flat top, with the lines/scores still in tact. What happens if one goes bad is that they will "mushroom" out at the top and often show black soot like dust on them. I found it was much easier to replace the board, then to try to add new capacitors. That's just too tedious and I did not have the tools for it. Good Luck! Have a great day!

My Canon iP3000 printer just stopped working as if unplugged from mains.

As with most modern electronics, your unit has a 'switched-mode' power supply and most are built well enough to outlast the warranty.
They are very efficient but the kind of service some parts (especially electrolytic capacitors) are subjected to adverse conditions.

If you want to try a DIY analysis, remove the housing from your unit and locate the power supply; if it is modular, you may have to open a second case (much smaller).
Power supplies are easy to identify since they are clearly a different animal than found on the main boards, being made up of coils and larger semiconductors than the other functions.

If you gain access, look for cylindrical components mounted perpendicular to the circuit board with a plastic foil jacket and an exposed aluminum top, there may be a lot of different sizes but these are the most likely failures.
Since they can burst when failing, the aluminum is scored in a 'Y' pattern to enable a more gentle bursting.

Check them closely and look for domed (bulging) tops. These are close to dying and typically no longer able to function as designed.

They vary in quality so replacements can be better (longer-lived) or worse.

Most techs will know which replacements are best and the cost difference is low and negligible.

Good luck-

Sony KDL60EX500 power comes on indicator is green. No sound no picture. No back light or video. Cannot shut off with remote or TV switch. Power supply voltage is good but not drawing current (running c

Likely power supply failure. Sometimes affecting the series of sets.

Remove the back panel (unplugged, of course), locate the power supply which will be a separate block of components with larger, coarser parts.

The parts most likely to fail (electrolytic capacitors) may be exposed enough to examine them.
Look for cylindrical parts, usually 90 degrees from the board plane, with exposed aluminum that is scored, mostly in a "Y" pattern.

Look for any whose tops are bulging or indeed split open along the score lines.
This is about the only visible indication of failure, otherwise a special (LCR) meter will be needed for testing.

If you find such parts, you might try emailing Sony to see if they have an exchange program on the supply; these are not tough to remove and replace.
If not, try to find a local tech who will check the possible failed parts and replace them.

If you go this route, tell them to add 0.1 to 0.47 microfarad (25-50VDC OK) ceramic caps (under the board) parallel to the replaced parts
This will prevent renewed failure of the capacitors by bypassing the chemical caps for the high frequencies which causes them to fail.

Have a JVC lt-46am73 tv. The power was interrupted and now the tv won't come on. Have a red light showing it is getting power. Is there a reset process?

With a TON of TV Sets, today... the Power Supply Boards have a tendency to go bad. Most of them use a very cheap and unreliable capacitor brand for the Boards and these capacitors are known to blow. If you have the back off of your TV Set - take a look at the Board where your Power Plug is inserted. Look at the top of the capacitors. If any of them are "Domed" (i.e. not completely flat) on top, the + shows any separation (this is the scoring on top of the capacitor, in the shape of a "+"), you can see where any liquid has come up out of the top, etc... you have a bad capacitor. You can, of course, replace these capacitors, but most people find it easier to just buy a new Power Supply Board... for they are easy to install. Hope this helps. Btw- if you look @ the capacitor and are not sure what to look for - just Google "pictures of bad capacitors" and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. Good luck!!

Hi Ron. Sorry that you are having problems... I know how frustrating it can be. The problem is most likely your Power Supply Board. The capacitors used on the Boards for most sets made in the last 10yrs use an extremely cheap and unreliable capacitor. If you can take the back off of your set, take a look at the board where your Power Supply Plug goes in. On that board, take a look at the capacitors. If you need to - you can Google, "pictures of bad capacitors" and you'll see exactly what a blown capacitor looks like. If the tops are not completely flat across, there is any "doming" to the tops, the scored "+" on top of the capacitor has any spacing, cracking, and/or shows where any liquid has escaped... you have a bad capacitor. You can replace these capacitors and/or pay someone to do it for you, but I always advise to just power a new Power Supply Board. They are very easy to install. You can typically pick one up for a couple hundred $$ and save your TV from a junked fate. Hope this helps and good luck.

Will not come on was working fine then shut off and won't come back on

Good day!

Your power supply looks like this?

Please follow this steps on how to fix that problem:

  1. Remove the back cover.
  2. Try to look at the power supply board.
  3. Plug-in the TV and power it on again to perform a voltage data.
  4. Then check the input voltage of the power supply it should have 110vac or 220vac using multimeter (range on AC).If none the power cord is broken, replaced it.
  5. If you have input voltage next is to check the output voltage of the power supply board. It should have 5vdc for the system board or main board,12vdc for the audio and 24vdc for the inverter board (back-light)using multimeter (range on DC).
  6. If you don't have a output voltage please check the following parts:
  • Fuse---------Check if it is busted or blown.
  • Transistor-------Check if it is shorted using multimeter (range in Diode test). It should have no reading on reverse testing.
  • Resistor--------Check if it is open or change value using multimeter (range on Ohms).
  • Capacitor------Look at the actual image of it.If it is leak or bulged on the top.
If you found any of the defects parts like on the mention above. Please replaced it with same type, ratings and value.

If you have replaced the defective parts and the problem is still there. The power supply board could be got a major trouble or damaged. If it is happen your choice is to send it to the nearest service center or you buy a new power supply board.
Just click this site to order a new power supply board.

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you and good luck.

Had my tv looked at by a technician and they said it needed a new main power supply,it was to expensive to fix so i bought a power supply and instaled it but it dont work what can i do

Usually there is a warranty period like 30 days.Ask for a replacement if that dont work either there is another problem goin on.Then just ask for your money back, there is sometimes a restocking fee.

Hitachi Ultra Vision 61UWX10BB Will not power up Red led flashes

Your repair didn't address the failure. It is much more likely (in the absence of video and sound) that the power supply has failed.
The items you replaced affect convergence and have nothing to do with the audio section or the set's ability to receive signal. The power supply failure will diasable everything.
Look for a separate board with larger-than-average components, some cylindrical (capacitors), some block-shaped (chokes and transformers). And you may be able to recognize its relationship to the AC input line.
Locate the assembly number which may be on a paper label or just printed in ink on the board; any that appear to have been part of the etched traces will be only the empty board number, not the assembly.
Removing and replacing this assembly can be done by most everyone using a little common sense and just plugging in the connectors where they belong. Call your Hitachi service center and ask about potential repair or replacement costs. If you can score a new board, don't throw away the old one since the new board will be as crappy as the original. This way, you will have time and opportunity to find an independent reapir service for these and have a spare on hand for . . . sorry, the next failure. These things aren't 'your father's TV', they die much more often.
