Question about Consew 226R-1

1 Answer

I have a Consew 226 R1 sewing machine. The needle won't stay in place. Do I need to replace the needle bar clamp? Is there a site I can go to download a service/repair manual for this machine?

You would have to check with Consew about a repair manual, it would be a good idea to replace the needle bar clamp.

SOURCE: How do you adjust the stitch length on Consew 226 R-1?

if it is like the other industrial machines I've used, here is the general principle:

On the machine there is a button with no label. Hold button while turning the handwheel toward you. When you feel the button depressl you can adjust the length. Hold the button in the machine and crank the hand wheel back to decrease the length of ths titch and foward to increase it. I usually put a notch on the fly wheel for my standard length with some nailpolish. Release the button and sew to test the length.

SOURCE: Consew 226 breaking needles

I posted an answer to this a couple days ago. If the hook's hitting the needle you need to move it away from the needle. There's a small screw in the bottom of the machine that holds the hook mechanism in place. You need to loosen the screw and gently tap the assembly away from the needle. The hook should just pick up the looped thread as the needle bar rises. You can go to www.consew.com and download a pdf file showing the parts of the machine, also an owners manual. You have to click on the 224 machine. The manual's the same for 224, 225, 226. Or you can click on the 226R-3 - that's the same, too.

I bought a consew 230 industrial machine, but when I try to sew on it the needle breaks. What do I need to check, the threading, needle or what?

make sure the needle is inserted correctly
check the needle clamp screw to make sure it's tight
the needle is to fine for the fabric being used
also make sure under the needle plate there is no lint
also in bobbin area
also check the tension

I have a stitching issue. I have a Consew 205rb and I just replaced the needle bar. I have everything setup to work and it grabs the bobbin thread everytime the needle goes down and comes back up but when...

Once you replace the needle bar you have to retime the machine, why did you have to replace the needle bar? email me with your make and I will attach timing instructions.
drivewithken@blueyonder.co.uk or you can keep adjusting the needle bar until the point of the hook is just above the eye of the needle.

I recently moved and can't find the belt to my Consew 226. Having problems finding a replacement. Can you help!

Go to www.consew.com and download the parts list for the 224 Consew. It's the same as the 226 for parts. Or, go to www.diamondneedle.com. They have nearly every part you're likely to need. I got bobbin case screws, a hook, some metal reusable bobbins, and some needles, all at very reasonable prices.

Consew 226 r sewing machine

  • Take the side plate off and also take the needle plate off
  • Take the presser foot off, and put a new needle in the machine.
  • Make sure that the needle is in the lowest position and look at the needle bar for the two timing lines. Locate the top line.
  • Then, turn the handwheel toward you until the top line is where the bottom line was. Note: At this point, the tip of the hook should be directly in the scarf of the needle.
