How to adjust the page file size in Windows XP

The page file is an area of your hard drive that the system uses as "extra" RAM. Adjusting the page file size in Windows XP is easy -- just follow these steps:

Right click on My Computer (either from the Start menu or from the desktop) and choose Properties. Go to the Advanced tab and click the Settings button under Performance. In the Performance Options window, go to the Advanced tab and at the bottom, under the "Virtual memory" heading, click the button labeled Change.

The Virtual Memory window will open, showing current details about your page file. To adjust the page file size, click the radio button next to "Custom size" (if it's not already selected) and change the initial size and maximum size. (You can make these two the same number.) A good rule of thumb is to make the page file about one and a half times as large as the amount of RAM your system has. So if you have 1 GB of RAM, you could make your page file 1.5 GB. But this is just a recommendation; you can make the page file as large as you want (as long as you have the hard drive space for it).

If your hard drive is slow or you have a ridiculous amount of RAM, you can also try disabling the page file to speed up your system. To turn off the page file, select "No paging file." If your computer becomes unstable or does not run as well as you expected it to, you can always go back in and turn it back on.

Once you've made the changes to your page file that you wanted to make, click the Set button, click OK to close the current window, and then in the Performance Options window click Apply. (You may have to reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.)

My Gmail pages have reduced in size so small that i cannot read them

At the extreme top right corner of your gmail interface there is a 'gear like' icon, let a cursor on it and click it, it will bring a down menu option from which you select "mail settings" - leading you to "General" - then to "Maximum Page size" Then adjust the figures for Show ....... conversion per page and Show ...... Contacts per page.
Adjust these by selecting figures as 50, 100, 150, etc.

I recently bought a netbook and the internet screen takes scrolling to see the entire page...how can I resize?

This is due to the small resolution on netbooks.
If you cant adjust the resolution in the display options, you can adjust the text size on the browser page.
click on view/text size and try make the text size smaller(internet explorer)
or in firefox its Tools/options/content tab and adjust font size

How can i adjust the printer to print out legal size paper?

Page size is generally set by the application that is sending the file.

Go under the "File" menu select "Page Setup" and verify that you have "Legal" set as the page size for the application.

You can also enter the printer driver, select printer properties and then set the page size to legal. However, if the application is set to "Letter" you will get a call to change the paper size.
