My Harman Kardon BDS5 Blue DVD player can't play disk from other zones such as DVD from USA. It is B zone when I bought it. May I know how can I unlock the zone restriction? Thousand thanks indeed.

SOURCE: Onkyo Zone 2 problem

The zone 2 will only play analog sources - so  you must hook up the output from the tv/cable/dss on it's analog (RCA Jacks) into an input on the Onkyo.  You might also have to enable this output from you tv/cable/dss.

SOURCE: Zone 2 speakers only work with the tuner - no

hi,

zone 2 will only work with analog sources so if your dvd, cable and other devices are connected via HDMI, that alone won't work. What you need to do is hook up RCA (red and white) cables from the dvd player to dvd in of the receiver and same thing for your satellite box (and other sources.) no need to change any setting on the receiver. This way, the HDMI will take care of your main room speakers and the RCA will feed your zone 2 speakers.

Hope this helps.

It worked for my Philips PET741/37:

1. Power ON the DVD player without a DISC inside
2. Press the skip keys in this order (the keys are under the "disc menu" and "stop"): right, left, right, left, right, right, left (YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO SETUP MENU, just do this in the "blue screen".
3. It will show a menu with region, now use the arrow keys to select "region" and change to "test 0" (all regions).

No Disk

The funny thing about dvd players is they just stop functioning after awhile. I've had mine for 2 years now (4 players before that), and that's a personal record. On the flipside I have a sony dvd burner that won't read CD's!

Really the only thing i can suggest is updating the firmware via cd if it supports it (if you give me your make and model # i can check on it). I would also try different DVD's- like ones that you know used to play. Some newer ones have really aggressive anti-piracy garbage that will keep older players from playing them.

COBY TF-DVD7005

I hate to say it, but there are likely 2 issues that can cause the "Wrong Disk" error. The zone of the DVD's, as you mentioned, is a huge issue for distro. companies that sell the DVD's. They have been working with manufacturers for years to improve the protection of the zone restrictions. It is possible that the unit's firmware now includes some features to essentially block "zone-free" disks. You could try by testing - First: an original DVD from the proper zone, then, an original DVD from the improper zone, then, a copied DVD from both. Please list the outcomes of all the tested DVD's

Ill move on to the other possibility if this is not the answer.

Good luck, Ted

Lg dvd

Most DVD players are restricted to a certrain zone. e.g. europe is zone 2. If your DVD is from a different zone, say USA or asia, it will not play. This is so the makers of DVDs can release different films to different markets in order to maximize profit.
