Question about Refrigerators

Water pipe in fridge door broken at bottom, tried re-joining but have accepted that the pipe needs changing. Any hints or tips please.

Tried joining the pipe, ok until you open the freezer door! Need to change the pipe, how would I remove the panel to get at the retaining screw? Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Im looking at buying an LG fridge with the double doors and freezer on the bottom. It also has the ice machine and water hook ups but it needs a gas refill how much will that cost?

I wouldn't buy any modern fridge that needs a gas refill. Needing a refill means that it has a leak. Modern fridges are 'sealed unit' compressors and should NEVER leak. If they do then there is a leak, often in the evaporator coils inside the fridge and commonly between the copper to aluminium joins. These leaks would need to be repaired however most piping is not easily accessible. Cost may be $100 to $300 for re-gas plus repair $$$ and unless the leak was located and repaired then you will be re-gassing again in days, weeks or months.
LEAK needs FIX LEAK and re-gas.

How do I replace the bottom socket where the door hinge slides in

I assume you mean the hinge that is on the cabinet and not the door? If its the door part that has failed, you will need to get a new door. If its the cabinet hinge, some of these are screwed onto the cabinet from underneath the fridge. Others however, are mounted inside the cabinet and are not really designed for replacement. Ive fixed a few over the years on different brands where the plastic hinge has broken but it can be a bit messy. The cabinet needs to be carefully peeled or bent back on the bottom corner of the fridge to access where the hinge is mounted. Unscrew the hinge and if you are lucky, the Manufacturer has these as a spare part. If not, the only way is to go to a hardware or cabinet parts store to try and source something that will suffice. Do NOT be tempted to put a normal gate or door hinge onto the fridge door and screw it onto the cabinet. Inside the cabinet especially around the edges are whats called "mullion heater" pipes or in older fridges, mullion elements. If you screw through a pipe, you will lose the gas and fridge will be shot. If you screw through an electrical mullion heater, there is a danger of electrocution.

How How do I fix my broken water line that goes in to the freezer door to the water dispenser?

The line going into the dispenser is a 5/16 line. You'll have to remove the front of the dispenser on the door to get access to the line to unclip it. Once you have that done you can pull the line out from the bottom. At this point there are a variety of different unions, compression fittings, etc. to splice the line. After that you just feed the line back through the bottom of the door, clip it back in place, put the dispenser back together and your done.

Wse6070sb fridge. Leaks water down by the door hinge. How does the internal door lining come off so I can see where it is leaking from?

The problem is that the pipe that feeds the filtered water is broken. It is a common problem. If you are handy you can fix it. You buy an 8mm press fit elbow. Google it. If you want to see what these are you need to look under the fridge. The best way to do this is tilt the fridge to one side and then put a piece of wood under the gap. Tilt the other way and put wood under the other side. Keep doing this until you can see the white pipe under the corner of the door. Your will see a that the pipe is cracked at the bend. You need to fit the 8mm elbow onto the cracked pipe. This is not easy. Make sure that you wind the adjustable feet down so that the fridge does not crush the elbow. On my fridge the pipe was brittle and weak. I took a piece from the filler end.
If you look under you will see a clear pipe that is joined to the white pipe. That joiner is an 8mm push fit joiner. You need a 90degree version to join at the cracked bit. Once you have the joiner, carefully cut the crack through and push the joiner UP first, then fit the other piece in. Be careful to tuck the finished pipe away. When I did it the fridge crushed the joiner when I took away the timber.

Really Up Sh/t Creek With Fridge Door Hinge (broken bolt)

Put 2 lock washers under the remaining 2 screws and dont over tighten.
This should hold the door fine just do not over load the door.
Go to the hardware store and get 2 new hardened screws if you think you damaged the remaining 2 screws.

If they dont have any that will fit try an auto parts store.

Fridge ice accumulation inside and water dripping outside

Hi, Are you getting ice build up in the freezer side as well? There is a air shuttle between the fresh food side and the freezer side. thwater might be getting in the freshfood side from there. Look at the bottom rear panel in the freezer for ice build up. Ig=f there is ice, you will need to get to the drain from inside the freezer and check for blockage.
Please let me know if I can help you further.

No water from dispenser

The water line was frozen. We turned the freezer back to setting 2 and opened the freezer door for two 5-minute intervals. Leaving the freezer door open, we time another 5-minute interval about 30 minutes later. And no....nothing thawed out in the freezer. When we tried the water, it worked! And much faster than before. We did not mess with the bottom of the fridge at all. About 2 hours later, we returned the freezer setting to 5. This morning the water is still flowing! Thanks for the tip and for saving me a $85 repairman bill. All of the tips were very helpful.
