Question about Garden

1 Answer

I have a Stihl bg85c leaf blower. I've put a new carb on it. Following Stihls starting instructions it starts and runs perfect. However once its ran and is warm, hot, and I shut it off or it stops it will not start again. Stihl instructions or not! If I do manage to get it started again, without setting 45mins or more to cool down, I notice that it blows more blue smoke than at first start and also it will run but stops like its not getting enough fuel? Please help me before I either end up in the KUKOOS NESTor I tie it to the train tracks and watch its demise.

Sounds more like a heat related ignition coil failure.

you have screwed up on the needle and seat assembly( probably dirt under the needle )

that is why it is flooding

as for the rest have you put the diaphragm on the correct side of the gasket

I have a Craftsman 794774 leaf blower/vac w/25cc engine that won't start.

Many of these small blowers have an alloy key moulded into the flywheel, if this has sheared it will knock the ignition timing out, and will never run.

Parts for a stihl bg 72 carburetor

Make your own.
Pull carb, use thin paperboard, punch 2 holes for carb mount and place on carb, lightly tap on carb throat to make an outline of where you need to make big hole.
I use steel tubing and punch small holes over a block off wood.
The big hole a a bit tougher to make perfect.

IN BACKPACK BLOWER USED 4 CYCLE OIL AND NOW RUNS SLOW

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TOUCH THE CARB!!! Put the right 2cycle fuel mix in with new spark plug and run it, it will gradually pick up R.P.M's as it cleans out. once you get it running hit your primer button while holding it wide open, this will cause it to bog down and possible stall then start it again and do this half dozen times, what it is doing is pulling your fresh gas through the carb, another way is start and hold throttle wide open and work your choke open/shut back and forth several times, You do not have to clean your carb, this is simple problem to fix by doing what I said, Happy Leaf Blowing ! 2StrokeJim

Put a new carb on my stihl 400 backpack also a new fuel filter and air filter starts great and runs at full speed and then the rpms drop can bring back to full speed but will drop again no fun blowing

Lucy, the problem is that you have a blocked tank vent/ gas cap. Try just loosening the gas cap, just a crack not even one turn. You are bypassing the tank vent. Now start it and see if it runs longer with out boggind down.If this fixes it, you will need a new gas cap.
