My Humminbird fishfinder 525 won't power up. I checked the power going up to the unit and I have a 12.5 dc volts read. What else can I do or check? It's not under warranty...

You have sufficient power for your system. Do you have your power cable mounted into the factory gimble bracket? If not then it is possible to have your power cable pushed into the receiving port on the head unit reversed. This can only happen if your power cable is not in a fixed position. The reverse polarity of the battery will be sensed by the unit and it will not turn on. IF your system has worked without issue and now does not it is possible the head unit is fried and unrecoverable or if you live in a northern latitude and did not store your unit indoors last winter due to the Arctic cold temps we experienced last winter you may have frozen your liquid crystal display and if so your unit is toast. Unfortunately if it's not a power issue you are going to be reinvesting in the spring.
sorry I can't givery you better news.

SOURCE: I have Humminbird 525 fish

If you have someone that has the same or simular unit just slide there control head to the base just to make sure you have enough voltage and current to power the unit. If the other unit powers up then there is a problem with the control head. Then you will need to call customer service to get it resolved.

SOURCE: the boat has been idle

Hello Alexpreerado,

I understand that you are having a problem with your Garmin fishfinder 300C. When in the water the unit is not turning on, however when out of the water the unit will turn on. I want to see if the unit will work in simulation mode.

To do this you will need to follow these directions:
When powered on select CONFIGURE, SYSTEM, SIMULATOR, ON.

If the simulator works then you know that the unit is working. Then go back thru the same way and turn the simulator back off,

Your unit is equipped with a self diagnostic unit that if there is a problem it should power and give you a fault reading. If the unit is not powering on while in the water you are loosing power to the unit. Put the boat back in the water and check the voltage going in to the unit. You may find that you have a short while the boat is in the water.

Post back with what you find from the above possible solution to the problem. And I will give you some more possible problems and solution to your problem.

Thank you for choosing FIxYa.com

Is it any battery inside the Humminbird 525 fishfinder unit ?

No, the only battery operated ones are the Piranha portables. Having said that, there might be a small CMOS battery purely to hold saved information like tracks and waypoints.

I have a Humminbird fishfinder 525. It goes directly in simulation mode and says: No svinger connected... What could be the problem?

If the transducer is disconnected, it will automatically go into Demo Mode.

If you do have the transducer connected, but the boat isn't in the water, the unit knows there is no water and after a few seconds, switches to Demo mode.

Not sure what a 'svinger' is, but if you need more help, just ask. I can also edit the message and change 'svinger' to something else.

I have had both the Humminbird 798 and also the 1198HD. They are great pieces of kit on the water. The 525 is entry level.

Where is the fuse

There is not a fuse in the unit. If you want to install a fuse inline with your power cable you can go out and purchase a direct inline fuse holder.

I want to see the schematic diagram of humminbird fish finder transducer, my fishfinder won't operate. if i plug another unit of transducer, the my fishfinder operates normally.

Hi Greg and Ernesto:
Re-stating the obvious, your transducer is not working but you know that the sounder is.
I would start by checking to see if your transducer works on a different sounder. That's just a double check to confirm that it really is not working.
Then I'd try to isolate the problem:
- Plug (couold be corroded or damaged)
- wire (could be broken)
- Transducer (could be defective)
Since these are sealed units, I'd be checking with the supplier to try to find a replacement. Hopefully they are not too expensive, and time spent fishing is better than trying to maybe save a few dollars, especially if you're taking out charters.
Best of luck.

Turns off

The first thing you need to check is if you have sufficient power going to the fishfinder. Take a multimeter and measure the dc voltage going to the display when the unit is off and also on. If this is below 12 vdc this is your problem. You will need to check for loose connections and possibly replace your battery.

If the voltage is good then the problem lies within the display. Unfortunately, you would have to contact Humminbird directly to return the display for repair or purchase a new fishfinder.

Humminbird 343c will power down on its own

Hi!
If the unit shuts off on its own, firstly check your power supply. I keep seeing customers running their ssounders from a small, portable battery configuration that doesn't put out the correct voltage...mostly seen with AA size batteries being rated at 1.2 or 1.3 volts (8 batteries times 1.2 volts is only 9.6 volts).
If the power supply is not the issue then I would say the internal power circuit is suspect...this can only be repaired by a competent repair person who knows how and what they are doing. If you open the unit up, you'll not only void the warranty, you run the risk of killing the entire unit from static shock.
Best of luck in your repair!
Mike
