I have a Sony KDL-52S5100 tv. Is there any way to have it turn on using a timer? Internal or external.

Off timer function is there with this TV menu. Refer its user manual for details. No external timer should be used. Electro help

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Atv will turn on but stays on one channel and menu button and channel button will not work, and there no picture.

Most TV's require to be set on channel 3 with the TV remote again I say with the TV remote then if you get a screen run the channel lookup command from the TV remote, that should do it for you. In addition make sure the TV is set to the correct AV input with the converter box remote, your ISP can help with that part

If you are looking for base stand fo Sony KDL-52S5100 then I might help you to provide you part number info to buy it.
All I need is exact model number of your tv that would be written at rear to provide you correct part number of required base stand.

Volume on tv is locked volume wont go up or down and not even able to put on mute

Go to Menu from remote.
Select "Audio" and confirm "Internal" speakers vs. "External". Internal is the built in speaker sna external is when you are using a surround sound or reciever for audio.
Check this and follow up.

KDL-52S5100 Picture settings always revert back to "vivid" mode after 5 mins or so.

More than likely the TV is in the "retail" mode which intentionally reverts to the "vivid" mode after a short period of time on the other settings, deemed best for retailer display puposes.

Follow the "return to factory settings" instructions found in the operators manual, pg 21 of KDL52S5100. Only the first half of the instructions are needed to put the TV in "home" mode, the 2nd slection to make after "language. After you have slected "home" I do not beleiev you need to any go further into the setup menu.

"Turn the TV on. Press and hold the "^" (up arrow) button on the remote and then push the "Power" button on the TV. Release the "up" arrow."

You should now be back to start, select langauge and home mode and then exit.

You now should be good to go and your picture mode selections should now stay put.

Sony has live tech help "chat" and I would suggest using them if this doesn't get it done - but I'm 99.95% sure this is your fix.
