Question about Pioneer Car Audio & Video

Open Question

My pioneer CXE2187 keeps telling me battery is low, powering down. But it is always connected in the vehicle and never disconnected is there something I am not doing right?

It is not showing the screen, it will play music but will not power up fully. I do not have a charger, for it is always connected in the vehicle and to the radio. Am I missing something, we purchased the vehicle with it already installed.

SOURCE: Alpine cda-7892 Head unit overheating

Certainly, the output IC might need to be replaced, also check to see if there is a factory amp somewhere in the car. Additionally, double-checking the wiring is a must. How long does it take for the unit to heat up?

SOURCE: Pioneer PD-206 wont power up

Hi tfulton

Try disconnecting from the power and powering it up again to reset the unit.

If it still wont cooperate, the unit will have popped a IC protector in the power supply. Not an uncommon fault. The burnt disc you used may have pushed the tracking servos a little hard and a circuit protector has kicked it. Pop the lid off and look for a black 2 wire device about 4mm across that viewed from above has a D shape. Measure it with an ohm meter....It should read low ohms, if it does not... it has failed. It may be marked as ICPxx(from memory)

A fast fix we used for this is to grab the device and give it a 200 deg twist to short the legs together. Soemtimes(often) the body of the device will break off, just solder the legs left behind.

They have a habit of failingl with no reason, and shorting across them will not affect the operation of the unit, nor put it anything in jeopardy.

OR pull the board out... and replace the device, although I can tell you through experience, they may fail again.

Good luck, if you have any questions, just get back to
me here. :)

regards
Graeme

SOURCE: no sound from speakers

did you check to make sure your vehicle didnt come with a factory amp, if it has one is it turning on? or did you remember to disconnect the negative battery cable while installing your radio, i know thats a dumb question, once i was installing a pioneer a barely crossed a couple wires and fried the radio, the radio itself worked fine and all the features etc, but it never did play sound again. i always disconnect the power now!!

Several modules are always powered. What is the typical current drain on the battery when the key is OFF?

Vary low should never make no start conduition.
Sounds like you have a muility meter to ask for voltages .
Try this disconnect the negitive from the battery .Set the meter on the 20 volt DC scale .Go red lead to posivite and black to engine block or any known solid ground .If you read voltage something is shorting
If the voltage 2 -3 volts it could be switches lights ect .If its 5 volts or over then its something that draws a lot of power like a bad motor .
At any rate if you read voltage pos to gr with gr disconnect from bat their is a short .
You can try pulling fuses 1 at a time to see when it stops .This will tell you what circuit the problem is on and sometimes the starting motor will short interinaly this will kill the bat fast

I have a pioneer radio reciver with cd player an gps it will not come on power is getting to it nothing works what do I need to check were my problem is #rs are cxe2187 avic-u3108t

Pull the unit check for fuse on back of radio. Some units with detachable face have a reset button hole that requires a pen pushed into the hole to reset. Check for proper ground to the unit. If all checks out and no luck time for the manufacturers to repair the unit

Won't start

Since you have no power at all (won't start, won't even crank, no lights at all), it sounds like either the battery is no good or there's a problems in the connection between the battery and the rest of your vehicle. Otherwise, I'd also be telling you to check the starter, the alternator, and the fuel pump... all of which I've had to replace my my Suburban in the last year or so!)

First try disconnecting the battery cables from the posts on the battery and clean the connections really well with some steel wool or a wire brush. It just might not be making a connection... so that even though your battery is charged, the power isn't getting to anything. (I always forget about cleaning the connections when it's me with the car that won't start; I keep some steel wool in the truck now.)

Also check along your battery cables to make sure you don't see any problems, like melted covers or broken wires that could be keeping the power from getting to the vehicle. (I had this happen where a previous owner had spliced in to the main cables and then later disconnected whatever it was.)

If that doesn't work, your battery might have gone bad and not even be taking the charge. If this is the case, you could charge it forever and it won't help. Disconnect the battery and take it to auto parts shops and ask them to test it (most will do this for free).

Hope that helps.

Garmin 2595 touchscreen does not work well, It's shutting down by itself

Sounds like it is running on low battery which tells me that it's not getting power, test something else in the cigarette lighter to make sure it is working, is there a fuse inside the cigarette lighter connection? if thats ok then check the condition of the cable connection in the unit. hope I helped you.

Something is draining my battery on my 1998 Cadillac DeVille

I suspect parasitic draw. All vehicles draw some power from the batteries when the car is shut off. Certain accessories such as clocks, radios remote door openers and alarms always need power. The normal power used is called parasitic draw.

It is always a very low draw so it doesn't run the battery down. If you install accessories like shortwave radios or plug things like inverters and portable refrigerators into the accessory socket and operate them too long without the engine running you can drain your batteries to the point where the engine won't start. If there is an electrical short in the vehicle or a malfunctioning accessory it could be drawing much more than its normal load causing a drain on the batteries. If you leave your door open and the inside lights stay on all night you could drain the battery down till the car won't start.

Here's also a good resource for your car specifically on narrowing down the cause of the drain.

My sky caddie sg5 wont charge

If you follow these instructions which I think you know how to, it will recharge. If not the rechargeable battery needs to be replaced

To charge the battery, simply follow the steps below:
  1. Gently pull back the rubber cover to gain access to the mini-USB port located at the bottom of the SkyCaddie. Insert the mini-USB connector of the supplied wall charger into the mini-USB slot.
  2. Plug the wall charger into the AC wall outlet. While charging, the charging indicator in the upper left-hand side of the SkyCaddie will show red. The charging indicator will switch to green when fully charged. You may also notice the unit's screen turn on and off periodically.
The battery will charge, even with the SkyCaddie turned off. A full battery charge may take 4 hours. Once fully charged, expect 36 holes of continuous play.

Warning!Always connect the cable to the SkyCaddie first before connecting to AC power or PC USB.

The Batteries in these units like all rechargeable batteries only have a certain number of times they can be charged and discharged before begining to fail. Your only option is to replace the battery with a new one. They are cheap to purchase off eBay and YouTube has Videos detailing how to change them.

I have a pioneer cxe2187 car stereo/navigation system. The GPS is stuck at the last input destination and wouldn't accept any new input. What should I do to reset the system?

For the pioneer cxe2187 car stereo/navigation system, there is a very tiny reset button on the front of the screen just below the bluetooth light. Push it with the end of a paperclip and hold for 10 seconds then release. It will reset the system without loosing anything!!

The radio won't keep the memory settings of the chanels.. How do I get it to keep them ?

Most radios have a yellow memory wire,(sometimes it is red) This wire needs to be connected to a constant power source, i.e. battery, cigarette lighter. It needs to be connected to something that when the vehicle is turned off, it still has power.
