Question about Mitsubishi WD Televison & Video
Installed a dlp chip and a new bulb turned tv on and has a dark tint at top of screen
If the old lamp still works, I would try it and check results... it may be dim, but if the dark bar is gone then the new lamp (or the lamp housing) is either defective or misaligned. On the Mitsu WD65736 there are two options for lamp replacement, either (1) you can just replace the lamp itself or (2) for just a few dollars more you can obtain a complete lamp cartridge (module) with the lamp already installed. I recommend the latter method because you must not *ever* touch the lamp bulb with your bare fingers, as to do so will significantly shorten the life of the new lamp.
Also try pulling out the lamp module and inspect it as well as where it plugs in on the back of the TV.
Why did you change the chip? If you got the replacement chip the legal way (direct from Mitsubishi parts) I would get on the phone with them. Mitsu generally won't send out a replacement flash chip unless you open a repair ticket with them for a known/documented problem for which they have a patch. Note well that they will otherwise *NOT* give you the latest firmware without a reason. Simply wanting to have the latest & greatest is not considered a valid reason. On the other hand, if someone shared their flash ram with you and you burned your own chip, then you are on your own. Just the act of inserting the new chip will cause it to download the new image from the chip and then automatically erase the chip Hopefully you backed up your original flash chip and can go back to the original firmware. FWIW, the **only** Mitsu firmware patch I'm aware of for this particular model had something to do with being unable to pair it with a cable card.
If all else fails, there is a very extensive (thousands of posts) on AVSFORUM dot com for the Mitsubishi WD series. Search for your model. One of the posters there even did a full documentation along with pictures showing how to disassemble & clean the lense assy. Don't bother asking for firmware there as it is a violation of avs forum board ethics for any member to post links to or share copyrighted firmware. Good luck!!!

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.

They exact way the lights blink are telling you what the failure is. If the tv is firing the lamp and the lamp is bad, you will hear a buzz sound for about 1 second. The tv tries 8 times before it gives up and spits out the lamp error. Check the user manual for led diagnostics. If you put in a new lamp but still have issues, you've likely got a bad ballast (most common on this model) or colorwheel (less common). Both are part of the optical block (light engine) and I don't believe they're available as individual components from toshiba.

SOURCE: DLP RCA HDTV is displaying
dust going in the inner layer of screen is very rare as due to dust in the screen and on mirror the screen becomes black or picture looks blurry/dim.but if the picture is only having green tint on the screen then its due to weak or bad light engine.so the light engine has to be replaced.also if the bulb in the tv is not properly fixed or moved from its position or fitted loose the problem may occur.but first light has to be replaced and checked if still the same problem remove and reset the bulb again then check out this will help.as you have already sent the light engine for replacement so get it checked with new replacement light engine.mostly this will solve the issue.
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya
