Question about Computers & Internet

Is there any way to stop my mouse from inverting itself when it's left unattended?

I have a ESI FD4003 mouse, and anytime I leave it unattended for a little while (10 minutes or more), it seems to invert itself, moving it up or down makes the cursor go left and right, etc. Is there anyway to stop this from happening? I've had it for about a week now, and I picked it up from a Family Dollar. It hasn't been dropped, and has been doing this since I first put in the battery, and it's been driving me crazy! I've tried searching for a solution, but I can't find one. The only way that I can make the mouse go back to normal, is by turning it off, and back on again. And it's quite a hassle when I'm in my game and I leave to walk the dogs only to come back and find out that the mouse has inverted itself again.

Hi Lusium Mortem, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Have you checked the settings in your control panel for mice and keyboards?

Sound like the left mouse button is just worn out so the connection of the switch inside is not solid.

If it is a wireless mouse, you may be losing connection due to interference

SOURCE: Touchpad and cursor keys quit working

I used to get this problem. It is VERY annoying as you must know. try pushing the windows icon button in the top right corner of your keyboard(thats where it is on my keyboard)then use your arrow keys to scroll up to control panel, select mouse by using arrow keys and then use the tab and arrow keys to open the mouse keypad pagetab and push enable and enter key to turn it on.
IF WHEN YOU DO THAT AND your in the touchpad properties but there is no 'enable' and it says no hardware detected, then go into the same mouse window from the control panel and go to the hardware tab and either try to update driver or use the trouble shoot button.

Hope this helped =]

Mouse model # FD4003 I didn't get a instruction book with my mouse, so I am wondering what the top round button is for and what the side buttons are for.

If you are referring to the wheel as the top round button, that is for scrolling up and down within web pages. As for the side buttons, they are designed (default) to go forward and backward through web pages viewed. Those side buttons will most likely only work if you load the software that comes with the mouse as they are non-standard buttons. That same software may allow you to reassign the functions of the buttons for other uses.

My mouse pad left and right buttons stopped working on my HP pavilion. External mouse works OK. Also had a problem with tap function but now working after unchecking button function in settings!

Anytime a device, (keyboard, mouse, USB device) stops working, the very first point of issue is to re-install the drivers. Drivers have been known to inexplicably become corrupt and will malfunction or not function at all. In case such as yours, where the device is built into the hardware itself, it's best to go to Start>Computer, right click Computer, click on Properties, then click on Device Manager. Find the device that is malfunctioning, in your case, the mousepad, and right click on it...then click uninstall. Reboot your system and it will reload the drivers on restart. Nine times out of ten, this will resolve the problem. There is a slim possibility that your mouspad plug has become loose...if that's the case, you will have to remove the keyboard and reseat the plug. Youtube has tons of videos showing how to do this with various laptops.

Why does my ge microwave model je1540gv002 starts and stops by itself?

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

Chances are you have a shorting membrane keypad.

Please let me know your full model number and more details on what it's doing and I can give you the information you need.

Please post a new help request here on FixYa and include the full model number from the tag in the cooking cavity or elsewhere on the microwave, such as the door frame, controller frame, etc. and detailed symptoms and when they occur.

But since FixYa does not notify us of follow-ups, you will need to post a new help request.

GE XL1800 comes on anytime during day or night.

You have a shorting membrane keypad.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

But please note that for some GE models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame which comes with a new keypad.

In this case, you simply move your circuit board into the new frame.

Feel free to contact us with your full model number and we can tell you if yours is one of these models, and if so, we'll also give you the part number you need to order and a link to the best priced supplier.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
