I have a few purchased DVDs that will not play. Two have played one time. The message is "No Disk". Thanks. Suzanne

Thanks so much! I tried cleaning the hole but that didn't do it. I will get a lens cleaner asap. Does it seem odd that SOME DVDs will play?

Try getting a lens cleaner and running it. I dont know why but sometimes when the lens is dirty they will get picky about what they will play. You would think that they would just quit! Anyway the lens cleaner should work. Also avoid touching the hold in the middle of the disc. That is where the drive hub that spins the disc goes. No spin no play. Try cleaning the holes on the discs that do not play. Good Luck!!

Qubz combo drive cannot read dvd

If this happens with various disks then the laser assembly has lost its ability to focus on the data on the disk. Time to go shopping since repair is not cost effective with those things.

My Mustek DVD player does not play DVD's recorded on the pc. On the pc all the regular programs like media player and power dvd play the disk, but the Mustek player says ''Wrong disk'' What can I do?

some players will only play back DVD-R .. some only DVD+R .. many older ones wont play DVD rewritables at all...

DVD+ and - R recordings have lower contrast than purchased factory DVDs .. so if the laser in your mustek has a bit of dust then that will first effect computer written disks .. you can get a cleaning disk .. those have little brushes that brush off dust from the laser lens .. more likely though if your mustek is an older type, that you have to use DVDs that are compatable with it .. while DVD+R is the better format .. most older DVD players are compatable with DVD-R ... so thats kind of the standard that works in most players .. however there are a few exceptions .. most newer equip will play either, even rewritables ...

Samsung DVD-4600 DVD/VCR Player

My Smasung DVD/VCR Combo stopped reading DVDs because of a dirty read head. It started by only playing disks sometimes, and progressed to never playing disks. I assumed it was a dirty laser lens so I bought a lens cleaner set. Unfortunately my player wouldn't play the cleaner disk.

So I took it apart and cleaned the laser lens manually with some isopropyl alcohol (the clenser that came with my cleaning disk), and a lens cloth (that came with my glasses). Just open the case (starting with the screws in the back) and remove the snap in cross panel that obscures the lens of the DVD portion. Put a drop of cleanser on the lens and gently wipe it with the cloth.

Oh and by the way, I take no responsibility if you break your own player while following my instructions. My own DVD player was far out of warranty at the time I cracked it open.
