Most speedometers are run by monitoring the rpm of the output shaft of the trans, while others monitor the rpm of the ring gear in the differential,
most rear or 4 wheel drive vehicles have the speed sensor or cable attached through the tail-shaft housing of the transmission
front wheel and some all wheel drive cars are the same however the tail-shaft runs parallel to and behind the transverse engine
