The swr is too high. You may have a coax damaged or a bad antenna. Do not operate the radio on transmit until this is resolved or it may damage the radio.

SOURCE: red antenna warning indicator light stays on

The red light is a warning of antenna mismatch; when you hold the antenna, you are changing the match between the CB's output amplifier and the antenna. Try it with a different antenna or pick up a 'test light' (or test load) for CBs from an electronics dealer, I've also seen them with CB accessories at truck stops. If the test light fires off and the red light on the CB is dark, the antenna you have is junk.

SOURCE: 29 lx le new 200

The "Antenna Warning" came up on my radio too, a new Cobra 29LX, but I found another bunch of people having the same problem. This alert that you are seeing is only supposed to basically come up on that screen if there antenna is not connected. There is a simple adjustment inside the radio. The component is a little potentiometer that has to be turned with a little tiny screw driver. You can do this yourself, just look for the PDF file online that explains and shows you how to do it in a few seconds.

Here you can finds the link to the PDF file right here.

This is an easy adjustment. I fixed my false warning in a few seconds.

When I hit the mic key, it says antenna warning on the radio display. Why?

antennae damaged or faulty, or not tuned with a SWR meter. Also corroded connector, or damaged wiring to the antennae.

The antenna warning is the key, the swr on the antenna/feedline is very high. check antenna connections, coax and connectors for damage

CB Antenna Warning Light

Sounds like bad SWR. Check antenna ground. If mag mount, make sure mag and whe you put it is very clean. Check antenna where whip comes in to coil or base. Check pl259 with vom for continuity, open or shorts. This will probably solve the problem. DO NOT TRANSMIT WITH HIGH SWR. YOU CAN BURN OUT POWER TRANSISTOR. HOPE IT HELPS.

Cb antenna warning

If your readings are below 0.5 with a dipole that is a excellent swr reading, most fall in the area of 2.0 or higher, you will not harm your RF output transistor, if you are getting antenna warnings see if you can recalibrate it.

29 lx le new 200 wilson antenna new coax and radio .we set the swr with a good meter at 1.2 and the radio says 3 or so and the message on the radio says cb antenna warning.and we doudle check the swr with...

what kind of meter? I would go by what is in the radio unless you are using an analyzer.

You may also be getting common mode current. take 6 to 8 inches of coax and make a tight coil about the same size as a spray paint can. Hold it together with electrical tape.

Use the meter in the LX LE to set the SWR then check with the other meter.

My antanna light keeps lighting up. ive checked all conections and even put tin foil between all the conections from my cable threw my spring and my antanna

cobra 29 red light is normal but if you have two red lights that means that your swr is to high. take all that stuff you put on the antenna connection, get rid of the spring and adjust your antenna using an external swr meter. Get the swrs down around 1.5 and the second red light ,which is the AWI or antenna warning indicator, will also go out.

You got your radio peaked? Most likely, however, the pot for the antenna warning indicator is VR6. I always check that after peaking a radio.

ANT lite coming on for the first time when you key up and will it hurt radio

The type of coax and antenna should not matter in this case. What that light is telling you is your SWR is above a safe working level. You need to tune your antenna using an external SWR/power meter. It may also mean that there could be a bad ground or a bad connector. You probably just need to tune it up. Anything below a 2.0 SWR is acceptable.
