Skil, your usb connection is to the cpu. Go to printers and devices from start and see if this printer is your default printer. If it shows ready, it's working. Test print.

When you are installing the L7590 you will get a screen that ask you if you are hooking up usb or ethernet. click usb. then the next screen will detect the printer do not plug your usb clble into your computer until this screen. I have found that if it gets past step 5/8 you shopuld be good. However it might still error out on step 5. I have installed many of these and got the same error many times and found that this is the best solution i have found.

I had the same problem, but was able to use my printer by adding HP OfficeJet V40 instead from the dropdown list. I didn't need to bring in a driver. Try it...it worked for me.

SOURCE: Scanner error in HP officejet Pro L7590

These instructions will fix the majority of scanner problems and networking problems using ethernet:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01849855&lc=en&dlc=ro&cc=ro&product=3643612&rule=4124&lang=ro

The key is to assign a static ip address for the printer. The install problems of trying to get the HP printer to be found will go away. You can then use the scanner. Also...it is crucial that when connecting other laptop's and PC's on the same network that you use the hp printer'rs host name to find the printer on the network. I find that the IP address can and usually fails to find the hp on the network. Mostly likely you cannot search the network for a hp printer until you go the route of find the hp network printer with the host name of the printer. You will also need your install disk when installing on other networl laptop's and PC's since windows xp and Vista machines don't have the drivers in the list. You will need to point the add printer gui driver to the disk and look for autorun.inf
file. After selecting that file...you can then see your drivers.

SOURCE: print from nokia E63 through WIFI

Try connecting your printer directly to the wifi router/switch in a shared network configuration. Then go to your router settings, find the local ip address add this as the 'host'. Your settings should be as follows:

Driver : HP Mobile Printing
Bearer: Socket/HP Jetdirect
Access Piont: My Home Wifi (kaba)
Host : ip address of you printer
user : Blank ( tried my windows username,no use)
port : 9100
Printer Model: Officejet Printers

You will have to reconfigure your drivers on your pc as well. Mine installed as a wireless shared printer even though the printer is not wireless but I have it connected to my wifi switch for sharing and it worked fine.

Good luck

Two questions. How do I scan a document - so connect my printer to my computer - printing works fine Secondly, is there a way to copy in size-efficient PDF format?

Hello,
If the PRO L7590 is your printer, all support can be found on next site page:
http://search.hp.com/query.html?sh=1&charset=UTF-8&la=en&qt=pro%20L7590
In the column Product quick links you'll find most important links and downloads for the PRO L7590.

Before connecting the printer: Drivers and software should be installed first, for a smooth communication with your computer.
Get downloads for the matching Operating System on your computer.
It is advised to get the Full Feature Software and Driver installed, to have all the functions available on your computer.

Use the Setup Guide for a first hookup or after a computer recovery:

In case you need the manual:

I want to setup the printer when I scan and it is connected to the network that it send it to the e-mail. thank you

Sending directly via smtp is not implemented in the Officejet pro L7590. Only the "bigger" models (7680 etc.) seem to have sending via smtp or storing via ftp or smb implemented in firmware. What I find extremely annoying about this: I'm missing this too, as I was mislead by the product description. This lack of functionality is not obvious from HP's product data sheet, which covers 7590, 7680 and 7780 at once.

With the L7590 your can only use some sort of HP Software on a PC.

But beware!

I wouldn't recommend installing any of HP's full featured software package on any pc that is further to be used in productive work!

HP's driver software and utilitys that comprise hundreds of megabytes to download are hard to install and much harder to clean up, if something went wrong.

On a old but fairly well running Pentium 4 machine the L7590 Software brought the system to a crawl just by running some obscure svchost background task that seems to monitor the MFC device.

Having lost tens of hours to the recovery of PCs that had HP's Windows software installed, I'd recommend setting up a linux server with a current version of hplip.

Please note, that with linux and hplip youd' have to write some scripts of your own, in order to "glue together" scanning via hplip and the sendmail command. I'haven't started this yet.

And with hplip you can not use the "send" button from the L7590 panel. So any action must be started on the pc. But hplip is far easier to install (and remove) and it doesn't seem to hog your cpu as much as that crappy, bloated HP Windows software.

Getting error when trying to fax or scan

The L7580 is not meant to be set up as a scanning device on a network. This unit can only function properly as a USB connected device to have all the features work. Also, for the software to install with out problems, all other All in One software fro previous HP printers need to be removed. Once we did that and did clean install using USB only then did it work.
