Question about Samsung Refrigerators
When trying to get ice or water a symbol appears resembling a lock. How do I get water/ice
Our refrigerator worked after dumping out ice filling up the container and in order to dislodge ice jammed at the mouth of it, but nothing can tell you about this, it was just a deadlock where the 3 seconds solution was not working at all, in the meantime temperature was on the rise, all great now.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

There is a simple solution but maybe not for the long run.
There is a black rubber button on the front of the underside of the icemaker. It is a reset switch. I was told by Samsung support that this is a common problem if the icemaker has been off for a while.
Mine wouldn't work out of the box and several resets later it is still not making ice consistently. It has been 2 weeks and it has yet to fill the bin. We haven't used ANY ice from the maker. If the best it can manage between resets is a few trays... I think its time for a return to the store.
I hope you have better luck.

I would first try replacing the solenoid valve which lets the water in. Also, how are the ice cube arms aligned? They should be vertical

This is a known manufacturing defect. The problem is that the wire that some of the wires that run between the door and the rest of the refrigerator have broken and, believe it or not, the only solution is to replace the entire freezer door. Whirlpool is covering the cost under a hidden warranty...call them and describe the problem.
