Question about Optics

How do I get service for my Range Finder Binoculars, by Bushnell?

The eye lenses are not staying connected to the main body of the binoculars. Also, when in focus on the main lens, the adjustable lens will not focus. Is there a way I can fix it myself, or where would I send them for repair?

The diopter setting eyepiece has come out of the body of my Bushnell 10X42 ''Waterproof'' binoculars, model 13-2410. I see keyways inside, but cannot screw it back in more than about 1/4 turn, which is...

The entire diopter setting eyepiece was off.I separated the eye cup from the rest of the diopter setting eyepiece, and aligned the channel guides on the lens piece to slide it into place. Then holding it in place, taking care not to gum up the lens, I experimented with how to screw in the retainer ring so that its white dot registered correctly. Finally reattach the eye cup and focus. It's like new!

My binoculars need some maintenance, and it looks like the eyepiece coating is wearing off. Where can I send them for repair, and do they come with a lifetime guarantee?

Bausch & Lomb binoculars did carry a Limited Life Time Warranty. I quote the first paragraph of the enclosed warranty card. The rest of the card just mentions the address to send them. The card is old and always good to check for the current address. "Your Bushnell or Bausch & Lomb binocular, riflescope, or telescope is unquestionably warranted to be free of defect in material and workmanship for the lifetime of the original owner." Coating wearing off is not considered a warranty repair as coatings can come off over time. Rubbing too hard often or not blowing off debris before cleaning can do this. Using cleaners not made for coated lenses also can. The Bausch & Lomb Discoverer was made by Bushnell. They have owned B & L's binoculars business since the mid seventies. Bushnell still make the discoverer line under the Bushnell brand name. Contact Bushnell in your country for service.

Bausch and Lomb rubber eye cups

Bausch & Lomb was purchased by Bushnell in the 70's. Your elites are Japanese made and considered quite a good binocular. Bushnell continued to make the same binoculars bearing the Elite name but replaced B&L with Bushnell. The current elites are different shaped. You could contact Bushnell or you could go to a store in your area that may stock the older Bushnell Elites and try and see if the eyecups fit.

I have an old pair of bushnell binoculars. only problem I don't know how to find them online they are silver like and come in a old brown case and they were made in japan. triple tested coated optics says...

If you do an image search for Nikon Mikron and the one you have looks the same then you have a Bushnell copy from the 1950's called the Palm Pocket. These appeared in the 1950's. The 6x18 was available from 1951. The 7x18 and can be found in the Bushnell 1958 catalogue. By the 1965 catalogue they had gone from the product line up. If you look around the body of the binoculars you may find a code beginning with JB or JL followed by a number. This number will give the name of the Japanese manufacturer who made them for Bushnell. If you get the number go here for the codes
http://home.europa.com/~telscope/jbcode.txt

The Palm Pocket came in 7x18 and 6x18 designs. A larger model the Broadfield was available with 25mm objectives

Water spots inside lenses

On the whole, I'd advise against dismantling binoculars yourself. Unlike most other optical devices, alignement is really important because you need to feed the same image into both eyes. If you're going to end up paying someone to realign the instrument, you might as well get them to do the cleaning at the same time. A.
