Hiya I have a 2002 Renault Megane, on one side I had child lock on and my partner knocked it off but somehow it has jammed and the car door won't shut now... any ideas what I can do? Can it be sorted simply? Any help is appreciated. .

take it to a renault dealer as these cars are a pain in the you know where ,or trade it for a proper car like a ford or vauxhall ,better still a ford cortina

to open door with child lock activated, insert a plastic strip( i used from Milk bottle) from outside where the child lock is. Try to push plastic in such a way the child lock push from closed position to open position. Myself did it in 3 attempts and door was able to open from inside in megane fidji 51 reg.

Normally the outside door handle mechanism is the cause of the problem a small bit of plastic that links itself to the door lock, but for the door not opening from the inside I can only presume that you have the child safety lock switch activated, the only way to open up this door is to remove the bottom part of the seat and then removing the door panel.

I have a 2002 Renault Megane 1.6 Convertible and experienced exactly the same fault. Needed a team effort but we found a very easy quick fix to this problem. If you take the plastic cover off from under the gear shifter, you will notice a release button covered by a rubber cover. Pressing this release button allows the gear shifter to move from its locked/jammed position. (This is not the fix but it helps with the fix).
If you are fortunate enough to have a 2nd person available, have them poke their head under the bonnet to watch the Gearbox cable move....while you are shifting the gear shifter inside the vehicle. Your partner will see that a cable with a plastic locking device (right hand side of the engine cover) has popped off the shifter for the transmission. Move the shifter until you can physically put the plastic locking device back on the shifter mechanism and your all good to go. No need for that new gearbox that you might have been quoted on!! An easy fix that I am surprised no mechanically minded professional/body in the world has volunteered the solution to. I wonder why????

Cant you tell me where to turn on the child locks on a 54 plate Renault scenic please???

kind of hard but it can be done but what probly happen is that the child lock is hafe and hafe not ingaged or disangeged so it's stuck

work it manually and it should work ...ie put the key in the door and open and lock the door 3 times slowly then jump in and try to start within 15 secs .if it doesnt work then be prepared to be fleeced and lay the golden egg at the dealers

this might sound silly but check you do not have the child lock on.
