If it stops at the same time on every DVD, there's probably something binding the laser sled so it can't move past that point.

If it's just one particular DVD, there's a defect on the DVD. If it is a light scratch or scuff, you may be able to polish it out with a tiny amount of Crest Tartar Control toothpaste and a large drop of water on your fingertip (rub gently, don't scrub!). If it is contamination, wash the disc with dish soap and water, and pat it dry with a facial tissue. It's also possible that the defect is in the data record on the DVD, but in that case you would never have been able to see the rest of the movie.

SOURCE: 3 yr Old CD Player not recognizing discs

Laser might not be faulty but just a dirty lens/ rail assembly.
If thou darest open the thing, clean the lens ( GENTLY) with a swab of glass lens cleaner. Clean the chrome runners for the optics assby with a swab lcaed with WD40 or silicone.

Hi Tony,

Your GE 7-5295 keeps showing nd (no disc), this simply means that your lens has been damaged. Please replace the lens and you would enjoy listening to music once again in your kitchen.

The clicking you are hearing is an attempt to focus on the disc. The usual cleaning discs don't work well. Try to gain access to the lens and clean itusing a cotton swab and alcohol. That will remove any film that remains on the lens. If that fails to resolve the problem, the optics will need to be replaced.

RCA 5 disc Changer RS2600 stop reading the cd and and shows "no disc"

The reading eye is most likely dirty and doesn't see the disc clearly. If you can clean it with alcohol on a long QTip, you might get it work again for a while. Dirt & dust are the worst on the opticals. If you can clean it yourself great. Many can't be done without taking the case cover off.

Our DVD player stops several time during a movie. This even happens on new movies. What can we do about this?

Tries websites like Amazon.com,Ebay.com buy a set that call a DVD or CD disc laser eye cleaner.Used it might help.If still happening than the laser eye itself it is dying and to be dead soon.DVD players that are having laser eyes are dying or don't read DVD or CD disc like say no disc all the time. Are not repairable except replaced the whole laser eye data's reader itself not practical, because u can a whole new basic DVD player just the same prices or even cheaper. These day a basic DVD players u can buy it like $40 brand new at any major box retailers stores like Walmart,Target..extra.

Hi there! I was using my hts3357 for 2 years with no problem. Now i have one: when i insert DVD/CD, it can list the files (divx) in it, but doesn't play. On the other hand, when i copy the "same" movies...

I would try a disc cleaner and using a can of compressed air. be careful not to let the device receive any of the actual propellant by using small bursts of air. otherwise if u hold the nozzle down to long u could do damage to the device other than good. sometimes the eye is strong enough or not dirty enough to read just the file portion but not good enough to read the movie portion. It can read the Usb part due to the reader using the microchip part in the player not the eye of the dvd player. A usb port and a optical drive work entirely independant. usually if it won't read it means it is either the eye dirty or the eye is not working anymore. independant electronic / tv repair shops can replace the eye for approx. $50.00. But if the cleaner doesn't help letting the player read the movies again. Then I would suggest taking it to a shop and having the eye replaced or just do a "tune up" on it.

Spin both directions theb display show table error

Usually CD rotates in the clockwise direction. Whenever you are using CD which your CD player cannot detect then CD is rejected and suddenly CD rotates in anticlockwise direction.
Also, If your player is older and your CD players laser head worn out then CD's which were played good previously cannot be played properly and then stop in middle, when this happens you can see CD rotating in anti direction.

Clean the laser head, with CD cleaner and do not use scratched CD's

Govideo player dv-2140

Ususlly "sticking and "stopping" is caused by only a few of things. (1) make sure the dvd/cd is free of smudges and scratches. (2) Make sure the laser eye is clean of dust or smudges. Turn player OFF, blow across eye, if need use soft dry Qtip and carefully wipe eye, blow away any loose fibers left from Qtip. Do Not try to clean with any cloth material. (3) OR your laser assembly may be sticking and not travelling smoothly. Do Not try to repair this yourself, find an electronics qualified person to check and clean this assembly.

CD player can't find the disc.

Hey man, I had the exact same problem with mine. What you do is take off the top cover which has 2 screws on top and 3 on back side of top. You'll see where the two parts come together to grab cd and spin it. Well, you should also see a little "eye" lens that actually reads the disc. Clean this off with windex or some time of cleaner. Bam, It works.
