two screws in the back of the unit on the corners of the control unit unscrew them and lift up and back on the control under the control there are two gold colored clips that have to be pried up from the front to release the cabinet from the base I had to take the whole tub apart the problem seems to be caused by over use of fabric softener the shaft from the holding tank that the agitator tank sits on gunks up with softener residue and acts like a brake and won't let the washer spin to get rid of the water it's not that hard to do just remember that when you put the cabinet back on that the front goes under the base and the sides sit on top of the base on two little points

SOURCE: whirlpool washer f3 e2 code
Had the same F3E2 error on our Amana (made by Whirlpool) washer, and I found a broken black wire amongst the group of wires hanging from the bottom of the wash tub. It broke right at a tie-wrap. Must have been caused by all the movement. Anyway, joined the wire with a marrette and some electrical tape, and the fault cleared.
