You have a heat pump.
Once the outdoor temperature falls below 36 degrees, heat pumps will sharply lose their ability to heat.
If you are getting a 72 degree indoor temperature when the outdoor temperature is 28-30 degrees, the heat pump is performing up to spec.
On heat pumps, the air coming out of the nearest air vent to the unit should be heated approximately 40 degrees warmer than the air entering the unit.
If you have a 70 degree indoor air temperature, the heat pump should be supplying 110 degree air at the closest air vent to the indoor unit.
Gas heat is a much better heating source where outside temperatures are commonly below 36 degrees.
Even electric furnaces perform better than heat pumps under these conditions.

This is not quite accurate. In winter conditions, while heating the ductless unit will not blow overly warm air. If you get 20 degrees F of rise out of the indoor unit, this is good. The mini-split units don't act like a gas burner which cycles on and off, blasting hot air. They blow warm air and run for very long cycles. Generally speaking, with a heat pump an extremely long cycle is a good thing. When they stop and start up again, there is a time lag before they put out maximum heat.

SOURCE: intertherm heat pump

FIRST YOUR OUTSIDE UNIT PROVIDES HEAT BY USING A REVERSING VALVE TO CHANGE THE REFRIGERANT FLOW.THERE IS NO HEAT STRIPS OUTSIDE SECOND YOUR EMERGENCY HEAT TURNS ON ELECTRIC ELEMENTS INSIDE YOUR AIRHANDLER UNIT.IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE HAS WIRED YOUR UNIT WRONG OR HAS THE THERMOSTAT SET IMPROPERLY.WHEN THE HEAT PUMP CANNOT SATTISFY THE SETPOINT THE THERMOSTAT IS SUPPOSED TO TURN ON YOUR ELEC. HEAT UNTILL THE LOAD HAS BEEN REACHED AND THE HEAT PUMP CAN CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN IT.

Bought a soleus air conditioner portable on and it worked great for week when drained it it has leaked ever since and not working as well to cool and sometimes gets e3 on displat

E3 error message which apparently means my air conditioneris working so well that it has internal frost. It then stops cooling the airand waits for itself to defrost. So every 5 minutes or so it would stop workingeven if the air temp was above 80 degrees. Also check one of this:
E3 Fault room sensor(s) (open or closed circuit)Code
E3Error detail Remote control transmission error (transmitting error)
Inspected unit Remote control. Hope this will help you. Good Luck.

What is cooling and dehumidification mode

When dehumidification operation is set by remote controller, the intake air temp.is detected and the setting temp.is automatically set according to intake air temp. expl. Intake temp.78.8 set point will be 77. When intake air temp.is 2deg.below the setting temp.the indoor fan operates at iow speed or stops. It is just a way to controlle humitity rater than just temp. Some systems reach setpoint before enough humitity is removed, making house feel stuffy,or damp.

I am working on a coleman self-contained a/c which is low on charge. it is for my sisters mobile home, what should the pressures be. Any other ways to check charge? The model # is 7330D901. Thank you very...

If it uses R22, with a 70F to 75F indoor temp, and a 70F to 80F outdoor temp, I would think the suction pressure would be 65 to 70 PSI. Liquid line pressure might be 200 to 250 PSI. On a warmer day, they could be higher. Granted, those pressures are for the cooling mode. If it is a heat pump, the pressures will be higher in the heating mode.
