It doesn't have a hard drive

Oh! OK. sounds this is your first. it needs a hard drive. If you got it new but really cheap its cause no hard drive is included because most people want to keep there game progress but want the new faster system or they burned out the main board. If you bought one used might be the same case. either way you need a hard drive to play games. It needs a hard drive to save game updates and other info. hope this helps.

SOURCE: Xbox 360 not starting up

If you're using HDMI to connect, make sure the TV is on the correct input as the console will 'wait' for a valid signal before powering up fully (on some TV's).

Also check the colour of the Power Adapter when you have powered up the x360.

Here is a link to troubleshoot the power adapter based on the colour of the light on it:

Hope this helps.

  • Your Xbox may have "Red-ringed" a while ago without you knowing. This means it overheated due to lack of ventilation. In order to get it fixed, you will have to send in your Xbox via the support site at xbox.com.

Xbox 360 won't turn on!! I was playing my xbox for all of 30 minutes, turned it off, went to turn it back on again an hour later, and nothing!! No red ring of death, no pop or spark, just nothing....

try this
I know its a little annoying but its useful trust me. The orange light usually means a problem with the power supply. This means WORST CARE SCENARIO you have to replace the power brick but you 99% dont have to get a new xbox.

The lights keep blinking but nothing is happening. It wont connect to the console. What should I do?

It's possible the xbox 360 controller isn't connected to the xbox 360. Turn the xbox 360 on by pressing the power button, and wait until it reaches the dash board. Then press the controller syncing button on the xbox 360 itself and wait until the xbox 360's ring lights start to spin around. Then press and hold the synch button on the controller (located near the charge port) and the controller should synch up with the xbox 360.

How can I get my controller to connect?

It's kind of simple See the button at the back of the controller? A little white one. There is a similar button in the xbox itself. Press the button in the xbox, and the green ring starts to circle. Then press the button in the controller, and the controllers ring starts doing the same. Those two will recognize each other, and the controller should now be connected.
Hope this helps :)

Are your controllers connected to the xbox? that is how you get green light bars around your main green light bar. If you are not refuring to this and nuthing is showing up on your tv screen but you have sound try ajusting/ spinning around the yellow av cord ( Yellow cord is what projects pictures onto screen) . Hope it helped. =]

My xbox 360 and wireless controller will sync but then it wont show that they are connected and even though i turned on my console by using the button on the console it just shows the green light turn on...

To connect the controller to your Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:
  1. Press and hold the Xbox Guide button until the controller turns on. The Xbox Guide button is the round button with the green "X" near the center of the controller.
  2. Make sure that your Xbox 360 console2_bing.gif is turned on. If your Xbox 360 console is not turned on, press the power button. The power button is the large round button on your Xbox 360 console2_bing.gif.
  3. On the Xbox 360 console, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small round button on the Xbox 360 console.
  4. On the controller, press and release the Connect button. The Connect button is the small button on the front edge of the controller, between the left bumper button and the charging port.
  5. After the Ring2_bing.gif of Light spins and flashes one time on the controller and on the console, the controller is connected. The quadrant on the Ring of Light that remains lit indicates the position in which the controller is connected.

Wireless controller

I dont know if you have been able to figure out what the proble was with your 360, but the exact SAME thing happened to me. The 360 seems to be working fine, game loads, and both the consoles and the controllers rings lit up green, but then the controllers ring just keeps flashing and the console won't recognize it. I 've tried other controllers and nothing worked and obviously I tried to synch it with the console time and time again. PLEASE HELP!!!

My xbox 360 is showing green

no red lights, no previous error msgs, and video output on the box has just died. playing halo yesterday and mid-game the colours went askew (like a green overlay) with horizontal banding, backing out to the dash solved nothing so after a reboot there was simply no video. troubleshooted the tv and cables and its definately the box.
