Scooter, when key is turned on the scotter jumps forward, the thottle is not in use, and the scooter is NOT IN GEAR, scarry

Your scooter may have lost its inhibit resistor 10k resistor that some scooters had on the center post of the throttle pot to stop this from happening. but the throttle has to be out of neutral position in order for it to move on startup. The throttle pots are normally 5k ohm pot, about 2.5k from the center to either outside posts. It would be wise to replace the speed control and the throttle together. Basically the controller thinks it is being told to go right at start up, that comes from the throttle.

You may have a "spark jump" somewhere in your ignition system. Check wire from coil to spark plug and make sure it has a good connection. If the loss of power is still there, put the scooter in a dark place like garage, door shut and lights off. With a friend, you start the scooter and rev the scooter and your friend will look for spark jump from the exposed ignition system. If there is a jump, replace the offending wire.

You can try to do this with the cover off, just in case it is not seated properly and holding the lever from fully engaging. The actual swithc is a small microswitch down at the brake, and it can get dirt in it and that will stop it from working, or it may even fail, and need to be replaced. So I would:
1) try it woth the shroud off the motor using.
2) look for dirt around the switch.
3) take a paperclip and jump the scooter side of the switch to bypass the microswitch on the scooter, be careful not to short the jumper to the scooter frame.

Let me know how you make out.

I have a Pride go-go ultra which is working fine, with new batteries except that on occasions when I insert the key I get a Bleeping signal and the scooter will not start, after repeatedly removing key it...

Alan, this could be that the switch is getting worn. If you can take the console off and get access to the switch try jumping across the switch and check that the scooter turns on and doesn't beep. If it works properly then the switch is worn and you can replace the switch with a plain old on/off toggle switch. If you want to buy a toggle switch and use it to jump the switch and see if the scooter works correctly. If it does then replace the old switch with the toggle switch. Hope this helps
