Nothing other than the error message "Disc loading error"
1. Chances are real good that the laser lens has gone out or is too weak to read the disk. It's a maticelous procedure to calibrate a laser lens. It may just need to be replaced.
2. The labored mechanism is due to the belt in the disk drive being dirty or stretched out. With this the mechanism can't inject far enough for the laser assembly to come up properly far enough for a good laser alignment therefore giving you the disk read error. You can clean these drive belts with alchohol and put them back in. While it's out check the belt for cracks. If there are any replace it. Or if it seems stretched out, which you can tell when it's around the pulleys, replace it. This belt is located in the front and under side of the disk drive assembly.
I've had the same problem with Xbox360 drives and the above solutions worked out quite well. But I haven't worked on one of these devices yet.
3. As a last thought. There may be a swollen capacitor on one of the circuit boards that may be causing the problem. A cap swells and shorts out. If so it will need to be replaced. I've had single swollen caps keep an entire television from working.

Get a service manual or pro to get this taken care of. It's a timing issue..accordianman

The Sony call center says the two belts are the same size. Supposedly, there is a third belt "under the motor board" but I have not been able to find it. That is the 42x1.2 (4219362601). The two easy ones to replace are 421606101 and only cost 1.95 from Sony.

If you hear the motor the belt probably got old, stretched out and fell off like mine did. There are two both the same. Replace both if you go into it. My best guess on the size after taking into account for stretch was a SBM (.062-.070") with an inner circumference of 5.6". They fit well. Make sure it is unplugged, like I have to mention that. You have to remove the rear panel and tilt the bottom out, be gentle there are a lot of things attached including circuit boards. The main power cord can be unplugged from the board by squeezing the plug and pulling up to give you a little wiggle room and there is another small ribbon cable near the opposite end that may pull loose but is easy to reattach.
